The bass player for a friend's band was ill a while back, so I filled in for the gig and happened to bring a 535 with me. During sound check I heard the soundman say "Holy sh**! That ain't of F'n P bass!". :D

(no slam on P basses at all, tho!!)

I've been gasing for an MTD for a while.

Just pulled the trigger on Neptoon's J5.

Was looking for something a little different that the standard Jazz bass.

My quest won't be complete?

Till I also get a 21 fret, wenge'/wenge' 535.

I see nothing but gas pains, now that I've entered the world of MTD.

Yeah, I hate to say it, because it means more GAS and more money, but that J5, as awesome as it is, does not represent Mike's "main" USA line. You definitely need to get a 535 as well! :D

I can pretty much agree. I find mine a little hollow at times (or scooped), but fairly aggressive as you say. I think I could stand for an ash body for a little more edge, but that kind of comes down to personal preference.

As far as wide as your sister:D, I can't say for sure I agree with the analogy, but I think I understand what you're saying. I get a lot of comments from sound guys about the tonal spectrum. I would like to hear a little better sound from my amp, but that's the amp, which is something I plan on rectifying very soon:cool:.

First of all, how did you get Mike to get that done in only 7 months! :-)

Also - how much does it weigh? I had a walnut Carvin once and it was like strapping on a desk... :-P

After seven months my MTD 635-24 arrived.

I couldn't be more pleased and am amazed by how balanced the bass is from low to high. Amazingly light too!

Specs are:
Walnut body
Claro walnut top
Maple/Bubinga stringer neck
Rose of the Mountain fingerboard
