What are you after regarding a Roscoe?
+1Anyway, sorry for the tangent there. Congrats on the SKB - the last owner sure didn't keep it very long. And, good luck on that LG. I've read/heard about a number of folks, like myself, going from Roscoe to MTD. It's very interesting to read about someone going in the other direction. I definitely appreciate the fine points of both instruments.
+1
Josh535,
I've owned a couple Roscoes, and played a few others, and they just didn't do it for me. I went FROM that TO MTDs (and Skjolds, as well) and never looked back.
Not being critical, to each their own. Enjoy those Roscoes, they are very fine basses... no doubt.
You will have to change your TB handle tho.![]()
Interesting Josh535.
I sold Marilyn#19 to get a Roscoe SKB 3006 fretless. Swamp ash body/Bubinga top/Lined Diamondwood finger board. Love it.
I do miss the MTD though, and I will be getting another in the future, more than likely along the lines of your soon to be departed 635, but first I have to see If I can find a builder willing to build my fantasy bass. That should be quite an adventure.
) and in the whole time he's had it I haven't missed it at all. It may be different with the 635, but lately I've been playing my Spector Euro even more, so it really dosen't get much of a look in at all and I can't really justify it being played in seldom, especially when you consider their value.I've already partially traded my 535 for Molans Sadowsky NYC, but he'd prefer to swap his Roscoe instead (Which is perfectly fine with me) and in the whole time he's had it I haven't missed it at all. Well, sorta... I mean, as a general rule these are still not really typically found in stores, BUT, it is easier and cheaper for us to do the usual thing and have the basses shipped to use the "eval period". If we decide it's not the right one, we pay both ways shipping just for the luxury of playing it for a couple days, but that's still a lot better than folks living abroad, for whom that's not even an option... at least for the most part. You guys are lucky enough to be in the country in which they are made and thus can easily find one to try out and either know of many of guys with either an MTD/Roscoe/Ken Smith/Skjold etc...
