I put a set of those on mine, two strings sounded dead so they came off, $35 bucks waisted. Or did I spend $40? I keep thinking I must not have crimped the end of the string enough before cutting. that's the only thing I can think, or I just couldn't get on with the sound.

@Klondike , sorry to hear they didn't work out.
It's an expensive business for sure, finding the right strings.
I was actually very happy with the TI flats, but, as I mentioned in a previous post, when I changed bridge and put them back on, they barely fit, and the E just wouldn't hold tuning.
I took my time putting on the LaBellas, making sure I did it right.
I will say I find the sound very even across the 4 strings, and they just feel right for me.

Hi! Still in time to enlist in the club? :)

Here's the last addition to my bass roster, very proud of the purchase:

The bass is wonderful, my only complain is that I can't really find a good way to fit the strap in the hardcase (it's a semi-rigid leather strap, can't fold it many times over).

I've seen the mods that some of you have made and I'm loving it! I'm a big fan of personal upgrades, someday my Rumblekat will have the treatment too.

Wishing you many happy years of playing that, @oldwhisker !

I now use a skinny, vintage-style leather fender strap on mine, but yeah, I had a bigger strap that didn't fit easily. I just put that in my gig-bag with cables, tuner, etc. if needed.

Which size Hipshot Ultralites do you use for the Rumblekat? On the Hipshot website, I see some described as 1/2 and some described as 3/8.

As Kev said, the 3/8 ones. I did have a little bit of trouble with one...the post-hole had either some glue or paint in it, making it a tighter fit. In my haste, I managed to scrape the finish when the screwdriver I used to tap it in slipped...so be careful!

Right, I saw your earlier post, so thanks for the advice. I will take it slowly. Aside from that, all else was okay? The holes were in the right places?
