YW, A couple quick tips, some people have had the bridge mount studs pull out, I read somewhere on here that if you tilt the bridge up slightly nose end it doesn’t happen, I did that so far no issues, pic attached. Also if you get the modbar strongly suggest cutting it in half lot easier string changes

I talked to my buddy guitar builder and repairer. He said to pull them out and use small amount of Titebond 50, paying attention not to cover ground wire. Leave it 24 hours (at least) to dry. It should be OK. I did it, and it looks fine to me now.

This is also in the thunderbird world, glue is absolutely unnecessary. Increase your angle for a nose up attitude. the bridge cannot be flat. This will change how much up pressure is placed on the rear of the bridge. no more studs pulling out.

I've just recently changed strings on mine, from TI Jazz flats to GHS Precisions.
Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why, I'll give it a couple more weeks but I think the TI's sounded better to me.

Anyway, since the new strings went on, I cannot keep my 'Kat in tune!
It stays close, but after a song or two, it's out again...E and A strings the culprits.
I've also had a devil of a job getting my intonation on the E right...I'm pretty sure I must've moved my bridge whilst cleaning it when the strings were off.

Thinking I may invest in new tuners, the Hipshot Ultralites most likely.
Possibly also get the Hipshot Supertone bridge too.

I hear ya on the Hipshot tuners, I just can't do the bridge. Not trying to tell you what to do because you gotta make you happy, it just isn't my pinto o tea.

Playing with the idea of putting TI JF324 string on, has anyone tried them and how did they fit, thanks

@Kev1955 , yep, I had them on mine, and will be switching back from the GHS precision flats I've been trying out, once I get my Ultralite tuners installed.
I'd no problems putting them on...E string was a bit tight in the nut but I ran a pencil over it a few times to get some graphite in and it settled just fine.

Thanks for replying, I was concerned the silk would be to high and bare part of string would wrap around tuning peg.

I'll see if I took any photos with the TI's on...but I'm planning on installing the Ultralites tonight, so I can verify after that.

Edit...looks like you're right! I found a shot...almost certain these were the TI's.
This is with the original bridge on.
You've used a mod bar, haven't you?

Yes, that’s what I was afraid of I found a sight said the TI strings were 35 inches ball end to silk even with mod bar it’s to long, I really appreciate the pics ang checking on that, thanks in a min will post what I am using

I might try those LaBellas out someday, although I have to admit I'm shallow. I like the red on the TI's matching the bass.

Well, just installed my Hipshot Ultralites, a more or less painless operation...one hole was a bit tighter than the others, and as I scraped a bit of paint off in the hope that'd make the difference(it did), my blade slipped and I now have a shallow scar across the head. Only noticeable when the light catches it, and to be honest it's not bothering me, but I may look into polishing it out.

I also installed a Hipshot Supertone bridge. Also an easy job.
It's late and I haven't had a lot of time to let it all settle, but it looks like my intonation is gonna be a lot easier to adjust. I'll report back in a couple of days on that, and hopefully to confirm I now have sustain for days!

That all done, I then put my TI jazz flats back on, to find they just barely fit!
Either they shrunk or the Hipshot bridge is set back a bit from the original.

One other little issue...with the new bridge, my G string seems closer to the fretboard edge than I'd like. I'm assuming the rear grub screw adjusts that, or am I wrong?
