but the question is, how does it sound?

I would have built it with old-style single coil tele-bass style p-ups or those jazz sized basslines with only 4 polepieces, but that's just me... it's a very quirky little bass, i'd love to play it. looks like loads of fun!

Wow! The combo of an Ice Blue Metallic finish, pearl white pickguard, and chrome pickup and bridge covers is stunning!

Thanks! Actually it's called Agave Blue and the pickguard is an aged pearl, but it doesn't really show up in pictures. I'll be putting in the Quarter Pounders in it after Christmas. Then it will be perfect.

There definitely is a difference, and I appreciate your pointing it out. I'm somewhat obsessive about color so anything that expands my knowledge is a good thing. Truly a gorgeous combination -- you should be proud!
The woodpile makes a nice backdrop, too.

Is the Quarter Pound a versatile pickup?

From what I have read it is. I like larger pole pieces as well, beecause I'm a heavy player, and the small poles don't evenly pick up the string when I dig into it.

Im not a fan of the pickup, but as I said, I like a super smooth tone compared to a rock tone.

Its just the standard stock Squier VM pickup. Too bright and hot for me. Ill be sure to let Jared know when I take em out.

I will probably give them to that lady I had you email about picking between precision and Jazz, that is, if it's an upgrade from the standard SX P pickup?

She got a Jazz for her daughter and a P for herself.
