Yeah - I had a VS (34") but was a bit off with the problems in my left wrist. Then I wanted a Lionel and a Florence - but ended up with 2 Lionels.
Forgot - way back then when I started, I had a P bass and a Gibson EB0. And that was my collection, well when I went to the Sandbergs I saw they had the Lionel and Florence - so there was my P bass and my EBO (but much better). The funny thing is my grandmothers name was Florence.

I'm an unabashed Kubicki Ex-Factor advocate having owned a few and yes, it has a very unique tone/sound not only being active but being Philip Kubicki 18v and later FCS Fender/Kubicki 9v pre active. But other than that and the ergonomic design - what makes an Ex-Factor extra-special is the drop-D capo he engineered. One like it hasn't been done since - a drop-D system that makes it unnecessary to transpose. And being headless - absolutely no neck dive which is part of his well thought-out ergonomic/balanced design. I can't say enough good about his bass - and I don't consider them "80s dated" like so many '80s dated guitar designs. It is timeless universal industrial design in my book.
Well, I stumbled across this at guitar center used.com Got it on the 45 day trial, zero interest . 6 months to pay deal. But holy Krap…I forgot how in your face an MTD can be. Good golly, Once set up its a real “punch in the face” bass. You are NOT Playing anything warm with this sucka. Even with the treble off, it’s a bright bass. Turn up the bass knob on the EQ, and the house shakes. Damn.

Squier Affinity P Bass, with Hipshot (D-)Tuner, Lace Riffblaster pickup, Fender HiMass bridge, new allaparts electronics and pickguard.
1972 Fender Precision, pickup is original, electronics are maybe replaced.
1994 MIM Fender Jazz, with 1970's DiMarzio pickups.
Squier Classic Vibe 50s Precision Bass, with a Curtis Novak H22 Goldfoil pickup, Gotoh Wilkinson bridge.
Epiphone T-Bird Pro, with Schaller lightweight tuners, custom wound 60s Thunderbird pickups made by Avedissian, active electronics replaced with a passive circuit.
Rickenbacker 4003W with a Nordenbocker neck pickup, babicz bridge

I'm very happy with my instruments, they also reflect pretty well what kind of music I like to listen to.
Curtis Novak has linked a video on his product page, I think it's even from Vincent van Trigt, my setup is a little bit more muffled, but still with very clear tones and well recognizable highs. I think it's not dissimilar to a Precision Bass, perhaps less emphasized in the middle and with not quite as much bite. It even reminds me of a double bass at times.
Today's setup: my one week old Epiphone Viola, Boss GT-1B, Electroharmonix EHX-2020 tuner, and Ampeg RB-112. The Boss unit is one of my favorite boxes. It comes with a ton of presets, almost none of which were usable for me. However ... you can create your own from scratch. It's super easy, like having thousands of stomp boxes in one.
The other thing is, there is no 'off' or 'through' switch, so if you want to turn off the box while playing live you have to create a blank preset. Easy as pie.
The Looper on this unit is superb. The pedal is essentially a volume pedal with a very short throw. I never use it. It apparently also has a tuner, which I've also never used.
You know that you could use it as a wah-pedal, too, right?

The 1972 Fender Precision is the best BY FAR!
It's my newest addition and we are just at the start of a beautiful relationship! I really have to get used to play an Instrument like this, but I didn't regret a single second with it. I am really glad, I bought it.

Well, to each his own...
Finally got my hands on a BQW Kylin secondhand. Swamp ash body, maple neck, birdseye maple fretboard, Aguilar PJ set with Aguilar obp3 preamp. Hipshot hardware. Weights in at a modest 8.2 lbs. Not bad at all for a 5 string. Love this thing (laundry…. not so much )
Very nice piece of gear. Beautiful grain on the body. Looks like extensive EQ options. Series parallel switches etc. 18v headroom.
