Do I qualify for a number, please?
Here are my bass guitars. they are both Glarry. They are cheap, (each under $100), but they don't sound bad. What do you all think of that brand? Someday (when I have more money) I'd like to trade them for a classic vibe P and 5 String Jazz bass.
I don't know the brand. If they sound good to your ears and inspire you to make music, they do what needs to be done by an instrument.
I know people who have expensive instruments and hardly ever play them;
Shame on them! Waste of recources, I say.
You carry on enjoying playing music and by that enforce your luck to turn.

I have an SR2600 and a '79 P-Bass. I spend more time playing the (?)93(?) Epiphone Accu-Bass (which sounds exactly like the 7ender and is a pound-and-a-half lighter) and the RGB300 which gives me a nice (not over-bearing) growl which is closer to what I imagine the function of active electronics to be.

You're obviously a player. And you own a few beautiful basses that hardly get any playtime.
No shame in that imho.
We all go through fases in our bass life and keeping souvenirs goes with that.I myself play very good precision basses made by Aria and Tokai in the 70/80-ies. I bought them rather cheap.
I also have a Warwick bass from a former bass life that hardly gets played these days, but of which I won't part because of nostalgia and because it is a very good and beautiful instrument.
So, as far as I am concerned, no fine, no hard time, just play time, Michael

This is my '83 Tokai Hard Puncher precision bass. Great instrument, all original apart from the bridge cover and knobs. Plays and sounds like a dream. I get so much inspiration from this instrument.

Oh no, I have no sway in this thread, I just scroll it for the hotties.
Somehow I messed up my invite to @Riggs H....
Went out shopping with my son over the weekend, I needed to get my latest Peavey C-4 fret levelled so we went to local music store (PMT Salford) and left it with my tech - he said it would ready in about 2 hours so we went into manchester for a look around and to get some lunch. 2 hours later Steve the tech phones and says it's ready so we head back there. As you open the door, they have their latest 2nd hand offerings in front of the till (bit like they used to do with sweets in supermarkets) right in front of me is beautiful bass that wasn't there when we left earlier.
I haven't really followed instrument releases over the last couple of years so I didn't have a clue what it was, I picked it up and tried it through one of the stores Ashdown amps and its played really well and I just bonded with it. So I ask the manager how much and he says, to anyone else £250 but for me £200 if I'm paying cash - deal done, then this beauty goes into the techs workroom for a couple of tweaks while I check out my Peavey. When he brings the Squier out he's smiling, I thought you hated short scale basses he says, thats when I found I'd just bought a 30" scale length bass, because of the design she doesn't feel like a short scale. my previous owner had the wiring upgraded and she immaculate. the only decision I have is what colour pickguard to put on it(I hate mother of toilet seat). I'm think either Parchment, 1 ply black or mirror silver.

Mirror silver would make this bass totally insane and very contemporary so if you want something people will turn their head to, that would be my choice.
My Gibson Les Paul Standard Bass. An Absolute stunner that came back from Japan. I have this one in the Classifieds right now. I know I'm going to end up regretting the sale on this one. After owning a bunch of brand new Gibsons and older 80s and also owning some other 90's Gibsons It really seems like it was a golden era of sorts with the quality of wood, and fit and finish. Massive tone, If you are a P-bass guy for instance you'll find yourself trying to reel one of these in vs pushing/digging in on a fender if that makes sense. Cheers!

the sx is my first jazz bass ever and i'm loving it. i've been modding/fixing up that bass since getting it and it's kinda more fun to play than the bb at this point

That's cool...I've been on the lookout for a Face Puncher ( as Dave('s world of fun stuff)) calls them. That's so true. My #1 bas is a '78 Aria precision, made in Japan also. It beats every Fender I have tried until now, including some quite expensive ones.

I have to echo that sentiment. The best bass I have ever owned was an Ibanez Roadstar II, which I have to assume was "lawsuit era" (?1983? model) because it was an exact copy of a 7ender P-Bass.
WOW! What a coincidence! I sold mine in 2015. It's the one bass I sold I regret the most.
The Tokai and Aria make up for that, but still...
