It is a guitar head. I don't feel it needs anything changed to it.
Perhaps there are moderations possible that make it even more fit for bass, but as it is it does the job more than fine.

I'm usually not a fan of wider necks but for some reason this one feels really nice. I can't wait to get it working again. Someone added about a mile of extra wire and a mystery switch into the control cavity and, unsurprisingly, it has no output. If I can't get the stock preamp to work I've got a Darkglass tone capsule ready to go in.
Yep, I like a P bass sound but prefer slimmer necks. And thanks, the plan is to foster them until they're comfortable enough around people to adopt out, but they've become best friends with our two cats so who knows what'll happen.
It's a shame they modded it in the first place, it was a budget Stingray alternative back before Sterling/SUB basses existed. Killer tone!
The design was smart too as the pickup (and maybe the body) were the same for both 4 & 5 string versions.
If it's working and the neck is pretty straight, that's an excellent deal ! Congrats !
Just got this back from the shop. Replaced the TV Jones SuperTron with a Novak DS/BS and moved it a little towards the neck. Right in the middle of a conventional split P pickup. Wow what an improvement!
Those tele basses are really charming………….and they have just what it needs, not more, no bells and whistles.

That's a gorgeous finish. I've never really been impressed with "distressed" or "road worn" finishes but it's really charming on this guy.

While I'm a big TV Jones fan the white Novak pu works so well w/ the pick guard. Those little details always make the sum of the parts that much more impactful. And I'm sure it sounds glorious too.

Good point It was about the p j mm and g&l but not really serious. Everybody should buy as much of little as they want. But if we need these basses too, I have to clear Some of the local music stores ( and my bankaccount) a frettles would be Nice to have again.Man, that depends on what you mean by one of each...

I'm currently on a journey of modding a bass so that it's easy to hotswap a fretted/fretless neck and have loaded pickguards so I can just make whatever I want, and drop it in... If I can pull it off, it should save lots of space and give me some options.
I have the necks done already, now I'm working making easy-to-change pickguards and that's proving a bit more challenging....
So I have a gig at the weekend and wanted to use my newly acquired Squier Rascal but I wanted a few minor changes, the major one being a mirror guard. so the modding began.
1. I shielded the entire body cavity
2. Replaced tone pot with CTS Push/Pull - also replaced capacitor with 0.022
3. Wired neck pickup for Series/Parallel when push/pull engaged
4. Aluminium knobs off evilbay (the barrel knobs are slightly too high for my style of playing)
5. New stainless steel bridge intonation screws
6. Applied a mirror vinyl to the guard and cut to shape - this gives me a cheap way to decide on wether I like the mirror guard without spending silly money on one (so far, so good)
The series/parallel really smooths out the boomyness of the neck pickup when engaged, I made a couple of tiny scratches in the vinyl (it comes with a protective layer which I supidly removed before making the holes for the screws.
Like I said this really is just a test, so see how she fairs in a live situation, then we'll look at any other mods depending on the gig feedback.
