You were right! Heres my new-to-me 2013 American Special honeyburst P. Red nitro tort guard from Pickguardian, Labella flats, and cream Dimarzio Area-P pups. She sings and thumps! Not the best lighting but the red tort really pops with the finish over the fender brown tort. Pickups sound killer!
I just traded my epi - ebo3 in as a partial payment for a mustang - but I was going to get a dragon on mine as well it looks just like I thought - thanks man.My one and only bass, Epiphone EB-3
I also purchased one about 2 months ago - I have always wanted an SG type I could never really get the tone I wanted- and when the chance came up I traded it for a partial payment on a reissue Namm Mustang - but yours has the classic look and maybe you can get the tone your looking for - I'm still on the lookout for an SG - so it's possible i will revisit.So, I stumbled on a trade and went for it. About $30 total investment, seems ok to me. It appears all stock so I'll have to deal with all the known pitfalls. I did have experienced musicians play it, since I can't play bass (yet) and they were happy with it's sound - once they got past the weight and long neck comments
I am now a two bass owner and still can't play, hah.

Here are the two most recent acquisitions:
1988 MIJ Kramer Forum IV with Spector P/J pickups/preamp - Local $100 ebay find. Beat all to heck. One of the knobs was busted off and there are some serious body gouges below the pickups. I thought I could replace the broken knob on the preamp but alas, well beyond my soldering/electrical skills. As fate would have it, just at that moment I was debating wiring it up passive, @dpaul decided to list his Spector 9V preamp in the TB classifieds. Thankfully, Kramer didn't feel the need to mod their shared parts with Spector so it was a drop-in replacement and fit the body cavity perfectly. It's not much to look at but it sounds surprisingly good! Plus it matches my 1988 Kramer 610 guitar that I bought when I was 16 years old! Ah, nostalgia!
2014 Squier(?) Frankenjazz. This all came together by accident. My band is adding more and more country songs so I've been hankering for a 5 string versus playing wide spacings on my 4 strings. I had picked up a 5 string neck a while ago and finally found a really nice body ($60?!) on ebay that, unfortunately, didn't fit the neck I had (always measure before you buy, doh!). Fortunately, some kid was selling his beat up Squier VM Modified V locally so I offered him $200 for it as I wanted it just for the neck which looked to be in pretty good condition. The two fit together quite nicely and I completed it by installing a set of Seymour Duncan Apollos, Audere Pro JZ3-4 preamp, Babicz FCH-5 bridge, and some hipshot string retainers. I will replace the Squier logo at some point with my own custom "Vander Jam Bass" slide but I'm really quite pleased with the results of this build. Sounds great and plays really well. This likely will end up costing me hardly anything once I sell the spare loaded VM Jazz V body and neck.

Everyone needs a P in their life. Not showing the P but it is there believe me. Besides that everyone knows what a P looks like and the four basses displayed here are far more awesome then any P ever will be (the v63 in particular eats P basses for breakfast). Enjoy.
