Awesome score my friend!! I scored an awesome 13 year old Squier P for $65. Cleaned it up did a setup and yeeeaaah!!!

Thank God you've started rather than never having the experience.
I never could have foreseen me playing Bass. I was always playing Guitar and Drums when I was young. The first real band I played in, I was playing Drums. I was in my early 20's in the mid 80's and the Bass player was alway late or a no-show. I new a really good Drummer who was looking for a gig so I had no problem switching to Bass to further the Band as a whole. Since then I always end up the Bass player in all the Bands I've been in. In the mid 90's I decided to give up playing Guitar as my main instrument and concentrate on Bass and I wish I'd have made that decision sooner but, everything in my world happens for some good reason. I don't always now exactly why but, I have faith in the one who knows.

Thanks Eddie Some interesting stuff, and some words of wisdom there.
I did actually play guitar when I was younger, but then hadn't touched one for around 20 years, so I do have a bit of a head start in that I understand scales and modes etc.
I didn't realise how rewarding it is playing bass though, and how interesting it is.
Apologies to OP for thread hijack, but I see from your profile that you like slab P's.
I have an intention to build one from some 100 plus year old Pitch Pine that I have, but that won't be for a year or two yet, but I very much look forward to getting started on it.
I had a reclaim business, and I always thought that this Pitch Pine stuff would make a decent guitar, just because of the feel of it weightwise. The mass and density of it etc.
Then I happened to stumble across this clip, and now I am convinced.
I'm not sure about the body wood, but that neck is definitely Pitch Pine.

I don't know much about the different types of Pine but I have a Squier 50's Classic Vibe P Bass that the body is Pine. And I also have 2 Slab Bodies I got from eBay that are constructed of reclaimed wood from Pallets(Butcher Block style) and I'm most certain they are pine.

I love those bridges.
Pitch pine is very dense and heavy. As dense and heavy as most guitar body hardwoods I'd say.
There's just something about the feel of it, that tells me it's going to work.
I've had these bits of pitch for around 25 years, so I already have a history with them, and now I just need to uncover the slab body P that's hiding in there somewhere . . .
I need 2 more Babicz Bridges and I'll have them on all my Basses that can take them. I really like them. Set them up and tighten them down and they are so stable and they look great also.
