(Side note) I wanted to touch bases with you when I was just down on the coast recently. Alas time was too short. I did play with the great John Nichols at Princeton Harbor while down there.

What year was that beautiful bass made? Fender has been producing their best looking sunburst finishes these last 6-7 years,in my humble opinion. My ‘13 Am.Std Jazz’ is amazing,as well as my’12 2-tone burst ‘57 P. (The ‘78 yamaha broad bass ain’t too bad ,either.)

2014. I bought it new in mid 2015. I agree that it's beautiful. I can't stand not having it out during the day even when I'm not playing. Makes me smile just looking at it ... of course that grows when I do play it. Oh, btw, I've got flats coming for her, hopefully arrive TODAY! My first fore into the world of flat wound strings.
I need to take a new bass family picture as many basses have come and gone. This is my latest acquisition. G&L Tribute L2500 in redburst.

Thanks Kirk! Too bad we couldn't get together when you were here - I'll be in Portlandia in June so maybe then. Never met John but know about him from Jim and Chris Cobb.
I have Chromes on both my Fenders. They sound totally different,the ones on the rosewood board J are well broken in,and the ones on the maple board P are relatively new (1 1/2 years) and sound really bright and snappy.
Bought this yesterday. Should arrive sometime next week.

One week until the arrival of a Fender American Elite Precision, so here's my 4003's last pic after 18 years of being the "number one son" (maybe).

My Fender Franken-P. I made the color at my shop. Body, neck and other parts gathered from various places.
Love the torte/blue combo! Looks KILLER!
Top is a pre lawsuit hondo with factory demarzio passive mini humbuckers , solid ash body and maple neck and fret board.
Bottom is a post lawsuit Electra Phoenix. It has an active EMG classic up front with an active EMG classic plus rear pick up. Installed a brass nut and installed a Wilkinson chrome bridge with brass saddles.
Both were made in Japan by the same factory. Many brands were made at this plant that eventually became Samick.
I have owned many high end and custom basses over the years. After resurrecting a pre lawsuit Electra p-bass I was hooked on bringing a new appreciation to these old beaters. Playing thru vintage amps make these guys the talk of the party.
