Something in me said, "You need a Jazz" I found this on CL for $200. The owner is a real musician, not a Noobie McNoobus like me. It was set up nicely, ops checked good and sounds great. The other P basses accepted it into the family right away.

My first was a Vargas with a single single-coil that was so hot it doubled as a microphone with free distortion!
