Hello , Nice collection ! I'm curious about your thoughts between the Precision Deluxe Special Edition and the Nate Mendel.

I couldn't lay hands on the new Schecter J-4 and can't find much info on them as they haven't been on the streets very long. The Aerodyne was very tempting but, I have a dozen Basses with a split coil so, I went Geddy on ya, LOL. ;)

Picked up a purple PJ deluxe body for 60ish dollars off of Facebook marketplace, with intent of doing something with my SX neck that's been lying around. Guy from a local guitar repair shop helped me put it together with everything I wanted; Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, black pickguard, and a very specific electronics configuration (master volume, P/PJ/J toggle switch, and a 4-way varitone switch). I'm really attached to it; sounds awesome for having a $60 body!

Regarding the 2 Precisions, they are about as different as you can get between two relatively similar basses. The P Deluxe has a slim Jazz neck with a maple board and an alder P body, is light (under 9 lbs), and with the Jazz pickup at the bridge it has a wider variety of tones. Most of the time I favor the P pickup but I have had times where I'll have both pickups full up or dial back the P pickup just a tad for that burpy back pickup tone on some songs. It's a killer bass for sure, and easy to play.

The Nate Mendel, on the other hand, has a thicker neck profile with a rosewood board and 7.25" radius, and slightly wider at the nut than a Jazz but not as wide as a standard Precision. The body is ash and the overall weight is a bit heaver at around 10 lbs. The Quarter Pounder pickup is awesome, though it's not quite a typical P bass tone, so YMMV. That pickup is loud, too. I recorded with it once, and the engineer asked me if I had an onboard preamp LOL. The bass is very easy to play, despite it's larger neck and heavier weight, and I've used it for everything from mellow singer/songwriter stuff to metal.

Honestly, I always have a really hard time picking which bass to play. On the surface, I have 2 Jazz basses and 2 Precision basses, but in reality they are all very different basses.
