Does that bass have 2 bridges on it?
Both appear to have 2, one as a string anchor, one for saddles. Maybe for string-tension/break-angle reasons?

They are both medium scale basses.
"Tailpiece" is so I can use long scale strings...
And also medium scale strings, just anchored in the front bridge... Ive got piles of medium scale sets , but some strings are not available in medium

Love the grain on the neck
I have a couple of basses where it does that around the 4th fret area.
Modified Nate Mendel p bass with an Aguilar 4P-60, custom wiring harness, and mint pickguard. TI Jazz Flats.
‘75-‘76 P bass with a Rio Grande vintage P pickup, badass bridge, and no tone control. DR Sunbeams.

Here is a 2018 Fender Player Precision that I recently purchased from a fellow TB'r It showed very little player wear and even came with a set of TI flats 
I replaced the white pick guard with a black one which I think it suits it much better. If it didn't have the maple board I would have gone with Tort but I don't think Burst+Maple goes with Tort. I know it won't sound as good without Tort but them's the breaks...

DR sent me a set of White Neons for my dUg Bass today. I'm loving them !

I had and old bass that was way heavy and thought about this same thing, but could not bring myself to do it.
