My little family. Left to right. Ibanez SR 1820, VEX, my own build, Epiphone Toby standard with Yosemite picks and my Harley Benton SB-4 sort of ray clone.
How do you like the Club? I've been eyeing one.
the Club is a gem!...it has an extra bit of bottom end to it over the 500/1 (bigger body size)..I've strung it with Labella black nylons and it is fast becoming my favourite "go to" bass (great sound, very lightweight, easy on the shoulder, easy on the fingertips)...so glad I bought it
Thanks...is that the Ignition or the more expensive one I can’t afford? Hard to tell by looking!
it's an Ignition with modifications (teacup knobs, switches and pickguard screws painted white, and of course the black nylon strings)...I blew all my cash getting the '66 500/1, so I went for the Ignition Club...dont listen to the naysayers, just because it's cheaper in price doesnt mean it's cheaper in sound.

Yeah, I have two Ignitions, as well as the German 500/1s, and the Ignitions are quite comparable. You can even get the German pickups from Thomann (which I am doing with one of my Ignitions that I'm customizing).
do you have to modify the existing pickup slots to make them fit?
I don't think you would have to if one buys the blade pickups, but I plan on buying the black bar lipstick pickups so I will be modifying the body. I'm doing a lot of mods to the bass, as I'm refinishing it and pulling the frets. I can't afford a custom shop Hofner so I'm making my own. Anyway, I'm fairly certain they have the dimensions for the pickups on the Thomann site.
I'm happy with the pickups it came with..if I do any other mod I MIGHT change the nut with a B+W 3 ply, but that is not a priority at this time (gotta start paying some bills)

Here's my 32" scale bass. Warmoth neck on a body I built from walnut, redwood, cypress and pine. The Fralin scpb in the neck finally got me where I wanted to be tonally, with the aluma at the bridge, and an Audere pre pushing things.
The goal was to build something small and light. It's definitely one of a kind.

How do you like the aluma?
It sounds great, plenty of jazz growl. I changed the bridge to the one pictured as it's heavier, to help with balance. The bass is 7.6 lbs.
It weighs slightly more than my first body build, jazz bass shaped, out of redwood and cypress. Redwood is very light, but very soft. I plan on dissasembling this one and going over the oil finish with a poly one.
