Greetings.
Been playing bass for a few months now, synth player that wanted to try something different, and am absolutely loving it. Primarily wanted to add bass to my tunes but am now really into it as an instrument that I need to learn rather than just new sounds.
Saw it at a decent price so couldn't resist this Fender American Vintage '63 Precision Bass reissue. Overkill for a beginner, no doubt, but I wanted a bass to last me and inspire me to pick it up, which this does nicely.

I have two American Performers and one Indonesian Squier.
This guy came in the mail yesterday. Purchased it for $350 shipped as "non functioning". The shop said it gets no output, and they don't have the charger or a replacement battery (but somehow determined the battery was "dead"). Well, turns out the battery was just plugged into the wrong spot on the motherboard. I have a charger that seemed to fit and do the trick, and this thing is back to life with a whopping $0 and 10 minute investment! Still tweaking, but solid output on all four strings. The pots are loose AF, so she still needs some TLC... but I'm glad that I was able to get her working again!

I'm constantly amazed by stories like this. Local guitar tech told me a similar story about how a guy brought him a guitar with no output that a local shop couldn't diagnose -- it needed a new battery. He fixed it for the cost of the battery and earned a customer for life.

In the synth world we have massive GAS too, I've managed to limit my hardware as the wife can see it in my studio but you should see my software plugin folder, my goodness...
I know, right? I mean, I get it with the lightwave. There's a freakin motherboard, daughterboard, secondary PCB, and loads of wires in here. It's confusing. However, 5 minutes of staring at a picture of the control cavity that I googled, and 5 minutes of tinkering and following wires... it works perfectly. I can see someone who's used to wiring up passive Fenders with 100 years experience looking at the inside of the Lightwave and noping the eff right out of there.
This bad boy is a little different being built with lightwave pickups... not your garden variety bass to repair... but clever lobsters seem to have a knack for troubleshooting such issues.
A decade in IT/CyberSec and building a poop-load of computers probably helped a little.... but in all honesty, I literally just unplugged the battery connector and plugged it into the right spot... plugged in the charger, and the little green LED lit up. Left it while I at breakfast, came back to a fully functional battle statio.... err... bass.
Lightwave turbolasers... err.. pickups, I mean.
If I tried to take a pic like that, I'm pretty sure my luck would send it to the bottom of the lake...
