It was built and painted originally by @Instagator using Warmoth parts. I happen to like Daphne Blue and couldn’t pass up on this bass.
Pickups? Nice combination. I'd want to go active on it but prob has nice tone as is.
My brother bought me this on the weekend - I had to fix the G tuning peg (it was literally coming out the back head stock at an angle), I can tell whoever owned this before played the crap out of it. After cleaning it, fixing it and setting it up - it sounds amazing, never thought I'd own a blue p-bass (I literally don't look at them when I am in a store), but I absolutely love this bass (I have become a bit of a Squier fanboy over the last 2 years). lol
I'll go a step further. I pretty much hate matching headstocks on maple boards, but for whatever reason, I think that one looks great!

5-string is a modded Carvin SB5000 I recently got from the TalkBass classifieds. I've named it Asuka (after Asuka Sohryu Langley from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion). I could get into a whole spiel about how/why I named this thing Asuka, but I don't need to bore you all with the details.
I'm thinking of getting Asuka a new funkier pickguard. Either the music notes one or the flame/flowers one. Carvin SB-5000 Bass Pickguards

That's only part of why I named it Asuka. There is a lot more to it, but that would be a boring wall of text when we just want to see pretty pictures of peoples' basses here, right?
Or if you're referring to my wanting to change the pickguard, I feel like the red + black color scheme on everything has become somewhat cliche, so I want something different.
I found an Affinity PJ in a pawn shop about a year and a half ago. It was EXTREMLY nasty and had a broken E string. I plugged it in and was simply amazed. I played it cool and acted mildly interested. when the dust settled, I walked out with it for $45. Spent about an hour or so doing a very thorough cleaning. slapped a new set of strings on it. The set up is very low with no buzz. Intonation is spot on. Sound is absolutely amazing. Money well spent.
...and I thought we got a deal at $130 (Canadian) - I'd be super stoked to walk away for with this bass at $45, that is just awesome!
Honestly - for the 20 minutes I spent fixing it and setting it up, I am surprised that L&M didn't even bother with it. They easily could have done the same work and sold it for $250, and they likely only paid $80 tops for it (my guess it was traded against a purchase too and likely walked away with a decent profit on that transaction).
It is the first true P-bass I have owned (the closest before it is my Ibanez TR50, which was the first bass I ever owned and I absolutely love it) - but this bass has a unique personality to it, it has a real punk attitude about it (the picture doesn't show it but it is really worn, lots of dings and bangs). To be honest I am surprised someone sold it (I know I wouldn't part with it for anything less than $200).
The pawn shop had $120 on mine. If I got it for $45, then they screwed someone. Mine has a few dings and a small piece of wood broken off of the body along the bottom. I fixed that with a little dab of plastic wood and a little rattle can paint. It has some chips of paint gone but that gives it character. It would take at least $200 to get me to part with mine. Maybe more.
It’s been a bit since having a J in the collection and was missing it but I’m extremely happy to have recently acquired one again along with my first run with a Dingwall P.
