That's first EHB 6banger I've seen in the wild! how is it?
I like the idea of a six string bass, but the necks always look way out of proportion to me. I’m really digging the color scheme, though.
Well.... I’m kinda still figuring that out. Initial impression are mixed but definitely to the positive.
outta the box Ibanez QC was a bit lacking but the bass itself makes up for that.
a couple of “ugly” screws, action adjustment required.... string spacing wasn’t consistent. 18,18,16,16,16. I feel like the bass perhaps missed a final sanding......
BUT.....
now that it’s set up.
The neck feels really good. The dimensions/specs are great, it’s nice and flat and in no way chunky. It’s not comparable to my Zs but I wouldn’t really expect it to be.... production bass vs Boutique hand made.
Tonally, the Nordstrand pick ups are great. I knew what I was getting into with them. Passive mode however does seem a little weak. I think it’s due to the lack of mass. Which brings up a pro. It’s a very light bass.
It’s not bad, I’m just used to more richness of tone.
Preamp engaged is a different story. I don’t think the pre is amazing by any means but it definitely gives boost or definition where required. If it stays in the family I’ll possibly replace the pre with potentially Nordstrand or perhaps darkglass or something else. Not to say it’s bad but I’ve definitely heard better offerings.
I’m not a fan of the Schaler strap locks. I like the Dunlop’s as I switch straps around a lot and like the pin head better for that reason. If I was touring it may be different but either way that is a very small and unimportant concern.
I think the big question is, which I think a certain crustation on here addressed was the ergonomics.
my large bellied opinion is that that are great. No complaints.
the hardware seems pretty decent but I feel it’s a bit too early to tell on that.
Overall. I’M gonna spend some more time with it this weekend and I feel the bond will grow vs diminish.
Most importantly, it is inspiring to pick up And I’m gonna go do that now!!!
Its kinda got a barn board looking thing happening. It’s cool. I do like the blue offered in the 5 string and the brown offering as well.
I like the feel of the 6 string necks and the bonus C string. The looks are kind of a moot point. I’m actually not a huge fan of the appearance but that’s not why I bought it.
