I'm brand new to the bass and to this forum, in fact, I don't even have a bass, yet. After playing guitar for 50 years, and ukulele for 1 year, I decided to also take up the bass after seeing the small u-basses around. Looking at the Kala U-Bass, Tanger and Gold Tone MicroBass and talking to my teacher, I decided to order a custom bass ukulele from a builder in Vietnam I used for a custom gypsy style ukulele. I emailed him this design earlier and it's going to cost $460 including a custom gig bag. It will have Aquila Thundergut strings, 18 frets and I'm adding the under saddle pickup and preamp that I already have.
