The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Yeah, that split little Alinco pup has some nice tones... And they look great on such a fancy painted BG!

Thanks, I was surprised how good it sounds. Very similar in output levels to the other two, one being a Nordstrand and the other the original Vista Tone. Now I just have to learn how adjust this new one for tone so I can swap out at gigs and keep things close for the sake of the PA.

Red is not my favorite bass colors but the way you've modded this one out is a real beauty! I suspect you had to use the 1+38" Hipshot tuners instead of the 1+1/2", am I correct? Also was the Hipshot bridge a drop-in and easy to install?

It's correct, used the 3/8 ones, but needed to widen the headstock holes. The bridge wasn't a drop in, but it was really easy to install.

Just picked this up. Traded in a guitar that I don't play anymore. Nice sound but I'm going to swap out the strings for a set if Chrome and a thumb rest.

My latest family pic: These are all of my non-wind bass/bass type instruments. Turns out, I have 7 bass guitars, a bass uke, and a bass banjo. From the top left:

ZZ Ryder Low Rider - Found it in a pawn shop. At the time, I had a Beatle Bass copy (wish I still had it), and I thought this was what Paul McCartney would play in the mirror universe where Spock had a beard...

Squier Bronco - Cheap, but nice to take when you don't want to take your good bass.

Birdsong 5 String - My latest and greatest acquisition. My first 5 string. Fat, beautiful sound. I am still coming to grips with the 5th string, but it just feels like it was made for me (and actually, it was)

Birdsong Cortobass - I have had this for around 13 years. Like its sibling the 5 string, it is a much better bass than my playing will ever warrant... but one of a kind, and it is mine.

Birdsong Cortobass - I have had this for around 13 years. Like its sibling the 5 string, it is a much better bass than my playing will ever warrant... but one of a kind, and it is mine....

Viking Bass - an Epiphone EB-0 offa Craigslist. I added 2 pickups. made it string-through, and gave it my own custom paint job (it shows) to play with my kids at ball games. Go Colton!

Squier SS Jaguar - Another cheap-o... but surprisingly good. Was a great backup to the Corto on a gig.

Bottom from the left:
Kala U-bass Bass Ukulele - A gift from a friend (nice gift!)... A nice light, fun, stand-uppy sounding bass... A legit, fun little axe!

Bass Banjo - Homebrew (not by me!) bass banjo. Sounds very stand-uppish, no banjo twang. Fun to play with my jazz kids at school or bluegrass sets at church. Sounds great and turns heads. (Guy's wife wanted it outta the house, I got it for a steal!)

Daisy Rock Acoustic BG - Yeah, it's pink. I was gonna re-paint it when I got it cheap, but is actually nicer than I thought it would be when I saw it... Nice to take out in the yard to play when the kids were little.

There ya go... Some of em are cheap. But all of em are fun.

Nice family!

That newest member (Yamaha) looks sweet! Please give us a report/more pics on that when you can. Cheers!

These are my main basses at this point. They are, from left to right, a Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass (Made in Mexico version), a G&L Fullerton Deluxe JB (vintage white, Caribbean rosewood fingerboard), and a Fender Player Series Fretless Jazz Bass (3-Color Sunburst, Pau Ferro fingerboard). Mods are a black pickguard on the Geddy, and for the fretless I put a Tusq Nut on it, a tortoise shell pickguard, and a high mass bridge. Strings are .045-.105 Rotosound Swing Bass 66 Nickel Roundwounds on the Geddy, .045-.105 D'Addario Roundwounds on the G&L, and .045-.105 Rotosound RS77LD Jazz 77 Flatwounds on the fretless.
