Delivering undamaged stuff in damaged boxes appears to be UPS's strange way of regularly operating... It's probably happened with me 1/2 a dozen times; ~in fact I just got a combo amp from GC delivered by UPS in just exactly that manner!

Fedex on the other-hand will re-box it after they destroy it and then deliver it . You open a nice box for a fully destroyed shipment . Thanks Fedex
That's really nice man. Hopefully it's one of those magical "you should have been a bass all along" assemblies.Finally after 3 weeks of waiting! My Fender replacement tuners came in. Now I can finally get this bass going

I had two memorable UPS deliveries.
One was a Hartke 210 which when delivered (and left on my doorstep) looked like a forklift blade poked through the lower section. Upon opening and examination, it grazed the edge of the cab just missing the speaker. Back it went.
The second was a Mesa Subway 112 that the driver did hand deliver to me, but didn’t notice until after he left, the entire bottom of the box was extremely damp like the box had been sitting in water on the dock or truck. Horrified, I opened the box. Thanks to Mesa’s excellent packaging,@agedhorse (the little elbow cushions for example), the cab was untouched and intact.

FedEx makes me nervous. A few months ago my friend repaired my and shipped it back to me. Express shipping, insured for $600, Signature Required from Ithaca, NY to me here in New York City. I live in a 20 unit apt bldg and go the extra mile on important things to make sure nothing lays around.
The guy never even rang my bell. somehow he got in and I found it the vestibule by accident because I took down the garbage. At least I got it.
Ordered a Mesa TT-800 yesterday, also express FedEx, and am sitting here with baited breath, hoping for the best....

If you have one near you, you can have Fed Ex deliver to a Fed Ex Office for you to pick up. I live in an apartment too.
Thanks for that. Yes, it occurred to me, and I have one near, but still a good walk. I am experiencing foot issues, plus it's a steamer out there today..
Besides, I'm enjoying that kid-at-Christmas feeling. I haven't got anything new in some time!!
My collection grew by one today, a 2002 Modulus Funk Unlimited 5 MM+J (previous owner said it's an '08 but I believe the year is the first two digits of the serial...)

Same. There's a Kinkos FedEx office across the freeway from me. When I know it's FedEx I call early. You have to let them know in advance and have them deliver to that drop Center. Usually takes an additional day but you can inspect it before receiving. Same for UPS. Built a bond with my Postal Service driver and he watches out for me
G&L Fallout Tribute arrived yesterday, unboxed and tested.
Will give it a workout tonight at practice.
The d'addarios don't float my boat. Have GHS balanced nickles heavier guage on order.
First impressions, nut needs to be cut lower, action will need to be lowered, (nothing surprising) will let it acclimate to my arid climate, and make adjustments when strings arrive.
CAR and pearl pickguard look fantastic.
LIGHT (8lbs 2oz) tuners smooth action.
Fit and finish very good.
Plays good. Will be better after massaged.
Fret ends finished nicely. Neck finish is a bit coarse for my tastes, will smooth with 2000 grit . Likely replace plastic nut with TUSQ.
Relief was set well. Lowered the saddles. Much better.
Sound: huge fat and growls.
All 3 positions of switch are different flavors of awesome. The OMG is different than my L2500, or previous Lseries I've had , a bit brighter (lower value cap?)
Tone control sweep is smooth and volume curve also good.
Overall: fun little bass with a huge sound ,very much G&L.

That sure looks good. I love short scale basses. Physics explains why they sound thicker, denser and more meaty than long scale basses. A shorter scale shifts the harmonics closer to the fundamental note.G&L Fallout Tribute arrived yesterday, unboxed and tested.

Squire CV Mustang Bass Finished. Nordstrand NM4 pickups, Emersion PBass prewired kit, Hipshot HB7 tuners, ZeroMod Thumbrest, Daddario ETB92M tapewounds.
Finally after 3 weeks of waiting! My Fender replacement tuners came in. Now I can finally get this bass going

I have had probs with Fedex also, I live in a small town and its never the same driver! UPS on the other hand does, and I have got to know him fairly well. He always signs for me and leaves it under cover on the porch for me.
Yeap it should be the first two of the serial number.
