G'day all. I became a Hofner devotee/convert about 2 years ago. Thought I'd share a pic of my 500/1-HGL. I wish I'd made this investment decades ago...

I tried several sets of strings it and stopped searching after putting on La Bella White Tape Wound Beetle Bass strings. My band mates commented (for the 1st time) on the great tone.
It's not easy being green. MIJ Geddy gets the love today.View attachment 4731685

Picked up this Epi Exploder on FB. Needed a little love as did the hard case. In tip top shape now. I think it's a '99 according to the Internet. Sounds great! Neck is a CHONK. Keep or flip...?
What do you think you’ll make in return?
I only buy a bass I really want. It has to truly disappoint to be sold. I sold a Sire P7 4-string for exactly what I paid for it (4 years later) to buy the exact same 5-string version 2nd generation. I'm not a flipper.
You have to make that call. You have your own set of boxes that it has to check to justify keeping it. "What's the best bass for Metal?" My first two boxes are is it vintage? Will I use it to make money? For a while I had an attraction to the Gibson Explorer Bass until I looked at used market prices. Unless it was an Alembic Spyder Bass, I wouldn't justify it. Too many other bucket list bases I would spend good money for. If you wanted a four string banger to "fiddle about" with, maybe. You can always resell it to a rock player. Hang on to it for a bit and see if it grows on you. Orphans often appreciate a good home.View attachment 4733943
