1) Fender Roger Waters Precision bass
My main bass, got it in 2012. brand new. I upgraded the bridge to Schaller soon after. I'll also most likely replace the pickup to SPB-2 in the near future (it has SPB-3). Roundwound strings.
2) Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazz bass
Made in Indonesia, got it in 2015. with Schaller tuners, bone nut and custom wound pickups. I put Fender Hi-mass bridge soon after. A few years ago I also rewired electronics to one tone pot and got it refretted. Roundwound strings.
3) Ibanez Roadster RS840
Got it last year for Christmas. It's from 1980. Flatwound strings right now, but I'm thinking about putting rounds on... we'll see.

That fretless is majestic. Just lovely. I'm in covet mode.

2) My 2021 G&L Tribute L-2500. Bought used. Currently has Daddario Rounds, but will replace with Daddario Chromes eventually.
What can I say? Leo Fender designed some cool basses, and these two give me a huge variety of different sounds. I've also swapped the straps since I took these pictures. The new strap I bought for the L-2500 is wider than what I had on my Ray35, but my Ray35 is heavier, so I swapped 'em around.

Roots and fifths and a little extra.
On the left, the BTB745. 35" scale. Zero fret. Graphite reinforced neck. Current setup: 8 thou neck relief, string heights of 4.5, 4, 3, 3, 3 (in 64ths of an inch).
Next, a Yamaha TRBX174EW that I bought on a whim a few weeks ago to see how good I could make a $200 bass play. The EW stands for exotic wood. This one has a flamed (sorta) mango top and matching headstock. I'm gonna flip it locally. Current setup: 11 thou, and string heights of 5, 4, 3, 3.
Finally, the new kid on the block - the Sire Marcus Miller V5. "Bound" roasted maple neck with rolled fretboard edges, block markers, bone nut. Current setup: 12 thou neck, strings 4, 4, 3, 3.

I'm slowly getting use to the headstock shape of those Marcus Millers
Phase 1 is almost complete. When you embrace the headstock for the M Series, then I now you are a true convert.
how do you like the cobalt flats on the Ray? I run them on my p-bass and love them… I was toying with the idea of putting some on my stingray 5 HH… but to me, it just seems wrong to put flats on a stingray. Once I play through my last 2 packs of rounds I might try it…
I have the exact same thoughts. I put a set of EBCFs on my Squier Fretless Jazz and it has never sounded better. I was blown away by the improvement in sound. And I thought it sounded great before.
But my '76 Stingray still has rounds. Flats have never graced the fretboard. Just can't bring myself to do it. Leo didn't build that model for flats.
I have the EBCFs on my G&L L-2500 and they are awesome.

I like the EBCF. I had La Bella flats on it before that I didn't like as much (too dull). I prefer how flats feel and find they help a lot with minimizing finger noise, and EBCF are still bright enough to get that Stingray sound.
may just have to try it. I love the feel of flats as well, but I like that zing on the stingray…
either way it’s gonna be a while, cuz Im on a kick with the American pro P5.

Man I’m left handed and those basses are backwards!
In all fairness I’ve never tried to play one, but I don’t see it working out good. I write with my left and do everything else right handed or ambidextrous… guess I’m just one of them confused folks!

"confused". In a more repressed time, in my childhood, my mom was left handed and taught me a number of things from the left-handed perspective like eating utensils, baseball batting and pitching and penmanship. I still remember my confusion when I was sent to Parochial Grammar School and the nuns would take a ruler to the palm of my hands when I didn't take to writing with my right hand. Fortunately it didn't take me long to modify my habits. By the time I took piano lessons and later learned to play guitar I had made the switch. Nowadays I'm ambidextrous. Life can be a cruel mistress.
Im ambidextrous for many things, but the attempt I made to learn RH bass didnt work well.
Appears rythym-wise Im left-hand dominant to a high degree.
