i was past years trying find over Colombia some rare materials for a bass
i found some candidates one of them is black palm bacris gasipaes
this is an extreme hard empty cylindric cone that is also the palm peach tree
extendly used for marimbas in the caribean cost and even prefered that tamarind

so laminated some kind of tops and a fretboard for a 35" 4 strings
cracky material that works very well after thin laquer
it is some like "cactus ebony"extreme fat grain and extreme hard
i made single cut mix of lord baron and Rick pickups
Grover tuners,jumbo extreme high frets ,,etc
some like "Ricken baron" only one made
granadillo neck thru

I like the use of non classic timbers in building instruments, but you'd likely get much more interest in the Luthiers Corner forum here.

Thats one of my favorites. Did you change the guard on it? I remember it having an unusual truss rod route. Maybe I'm confused. No matter, I really like this one.

I like that stand. It looks suited for things with odd shaped bottom ends (Jazz bass, Jaguar bass, Thunderbird, etc).

the standard of Fberma bass is "Exterminator"
it is very personal vintage elephantic bass designed by myself
it started with a very long 31"baritone guitar 4 years ago,,that after muted to different shorter guitar versions and a 4 strings bass version
the first ones was very problematic and tried different woods and ways for paste this salami together,
but definitivelly only cedar mahogany or walnut for this,in neck thru or slab version

with 3 inch+body thickness,,,32"scaled
this one goes with sucupira fretboard with pearl ovals,and pearl inlayed logo on headstock
26 or more frets,enlonged fretboard
body is twisted thing full or curves and near archtop with extreme rounded edges
headstock is what i call "aleatory-stock"each time on this model is twisted drew different,completelly irregular each side for 2+2 and a neck that looks ridiculous if less than 2,3cm thick
handwound 20k neodymium humbucker in parallel,and pots on a curved potguard inlayed inside the wood and after going with curvature of the whole top
