John that vista is outrageous...as is your bassplaying - just listened to the V.R. mpeg...loved it! How many basstechs do you take to shows, and how much overtime do they rack up tuning and polishing such a massive array of fine lutherie?
What I'm afraid to ask is...what's your rig look like?

on the fender(usa) i changed the pickguard from white to black and the same for the pick up covers i had this bass since the late eighties, greco bass i saw for sale a few years back and dug it so i bought it 100bucks,hohner 5 string "professional bass" traded for a epiphone gothic thunderbird i will add all my other basses just gotta load the pix

Haha yeah, It's a SICK bass! Very aggressive, very punchy, and responds very well to all kinds of right-hand approaches. Sounds great and clean with a light fingerstyle, awesome with a pick, and by soloing the p-bass pickup and really digging in and attacking the strings with my right hand, I can get a great 'Geddy' like tone out of it as well.

I just had it adjusted for heavier strings (Rotosound 50-110) and lowered the neck pickup a little bit, and I'm very anxious to see how it sounds next time we jam.

Vene, I dont fully understand why. Just roll all of the tone off of the neck pickup, totally mute it. Problem solved. I saw a mockup without the neck pickup, and IMO, it looks even more odd than already. No offense, I love the Big Al.

He's probably concerned about the neck pickup being in the way for slapping and popping. The factory setup for the neck pickup is pretty low, so it may not be as much of an issue for some people as they think it is.

I'm new here. Here are my current basses, photographed in my backyard:

Left to right:
- unknown import p-bass copy (very light-weight)
- SX Fretless SPB-57 (got it blemished and dirt cheap)
- Cort Action Bass with DiMarzio pups (a pawnshop prize)
- Dano 63 Long Scale bass (very nice neck)
- a '79 Rickenbacker 4001 (needs some work)
