Ive noticed a pretty different tone from the Mahogany bodied Skjolds with different fingerboards. Ebony has that Ebony sort of compression added to it - crisp but focused high end. Morado adds brightness to the upper end, but is more open sounding than Ebony to me. Wenge is darker sounding, almost like you rolled the tone off a bit - cuts out the high highs I think is what I hear there - awesome for finger funk or heavy metal slapping maybe. Im sure maple would brighten the tone right up in the upper end - might make for someone's perfect slap tone.

True, but I think that if you are playing an instrument that is not so skewed by its pickups, etc. so as to keep you from hearing the tonal impact of the fingerboard, then I think that you'd hear those same types of differences no matter what the body wood (or at least with a remotely "neutral" bodywood, like mahogany, ash, alder).

Well, it probably depends on the phone, but presuming that he can hold it with his shoulder or something, I wouldn't think it would require anything all that acrobatic. :p

Yeah, I know, and to a lesser extent, myself as well, since I haven't been working with you to the same level. However, I swear, one of these days I'm gonna' come down there and we'll have to do the microbrewery thing or something. Maybe I'll get a free bass lesson outa' the deal... :) It'd be even more awesome if Tom and I could somehow coordinate on that, but I know that's an extreme longshot.
