Oh, it's coming, but the "preview" is, it sits in a nice new complimentary spot in Pete's product line. A great bass, but doesn't "threaten" other models, either.G said:

In truth, I don't plan on getting too detailed online, at least not until after the review comes out (and has been out for a little bit), but on the flip side, it is okay for me to talk about it to an extent. So, let me say this (and my guess is that these comments apply across the board to this batch - and future batches): The inherent Skjold tonality (which is typified by extreme clarity, combined with a musical richness, great string to string balance, great articulation, and a very "wide open" sound, with great dynamics and speed) is certainly present, but compared to Pete's prior models, the fit and finish is definitely improved (not that it wasn't great to begin with), and the setup is incredible. The neck has the perfect amount of bow, with a very consistent string height. The action was set up pretty low, but yet there was nary a string buzz and it certainly seemed to allow for a very low setup, but still allowing a heavier plucking style (such as my own).
Oh, and did I mention that this bass is light? It is very, very light, and of course extremely playable.
So, that's about all I have to say right now. Many more comparisons need to be made, but I feel very confident in saying that this batch (and perhaps a nice little 4-string that preceeded it
) mark a true watershed in the development of Pete Skjold as a luthier. All of you guys who have basses in this batch are gonna be smiling for years to come. Tom.

Tom, I agree with your assessment. I met Pete right after he moved here to D/FW. I commissioned his first bass after moving, and since then have played about 12-15 of his basses as they came off the line. The early ones are okay-to-good. But these new ones are really killer! Pete's craftsmanship and design implimentations have greatly improved. And needless to say, the electronics totally carve a place for him in the marketplace that NO ONE else has.
You guys with the new Skjolds can really rest in knowing you have the very best that Pete is putting out!

I'm no soloist, but I'm working very hard on mobility and fluidity to improve my articulation and dynamics, so I'm focusing on a lighter and more consistent "touch". I'm also trying to learn slap, and learn it in such a way as to not need a compressor when doing it. You can't do these things unless the action is low... or at least I can't... and I don't like fret buzz unless I specifically want it intentionally for a sizzly edge, which is not all the time.
Pete told me the fret level on this bass was excellent, and he was right. I can move around on this bass effortlessly, which is exactly what I look for. If I mess up, and I do, there's no way I can blame the setup... it's great.

Nope I hadn't heard of it...do you have any details? Listening to that clip I was thinking "now this is what a bass is supposed to sound like!"
