Pau Ferro is the same thing as Morado Vic hehe (Also known as Blivian Rosewood - Depends whos selling it - its all the same tree). I think youd be better off doing both the pickups and knobs with ebony caps in that case (if Morado doesnt do it for you visually). For some reason, the pickups matching the top just doesnt do it for me in most cases. Thats just my personal preferences though. I think the Ebony would stand out a little more. I actually think Bloodwood caps would look super-duper ;)

BTW Vic, I think my Lion's Pride will be a Walnut top as well, but with a bright white holly lam to separate the colors a little more between body and top. Maybe Ill do the boodwood thing for pickup covers and knobs if you dont, allthough I havent decided yet on if I want dark or white Wenge on my fingerboard. If I get White Wenge, I may get knobs and pickup covers in White Wenge too. Still deciding myself hehe.

Yeah, but red on brown with an orange-brown FB? Wouldn't that look odd? I'm thinking about the Ebony option, however...

I think it would look hot hehe:

I think if your going to do Ebony, you might as well not do wood pickup covers and knobs personally, but I think its a better option than Walnut. Again though, its just my opinion, its your bass :)

Ehhh, even after seeing this mockup, I'm not feelin' the bloodwood at all.

Understood, except I thought it might be nice to have the shafts and lams be diff woods.

I also kinda' like the mahogany idea somewhat...

Thing is, if I do choose not to match the topwood with the pickups, then the knobs and pickups WILL follow a common theme.

I'm definitely still open to this one as well. I really do like the black... mainly, I just think doing it in wood would look even nicer and classier... even if I end up not changing the theme much.

I think you should go with the ebony option...black and brown looks great together. Also, from a distance, it would look like regular plastic pickups/knobs, adding that touch of subtle class when you see it up close and realize that its wood.

Not so hot on the bloodwood.

My thoughts are, for the pickup covers, eiter match the top wood or match the fingerboard. For the knobs, I would think mahogany, a band of black, and then matching the fingerboard (whatever it is! :D) would be killer.

or you could get pimp daddy crazy.. and change it all to gold hardware!!! (although I wouldn't!!)

+1... it looks very classy the way it is... don't make it look like a piece of furniture!!!!!:D If you are set on swapping out for wood.... +1 on the ebony option.

Nice! Can you elaborate? Or is it yet again a super secret project? Man, Pete seems to have a lot of those irons in the fire. :p

I was at the shop again today and after seeing this bass again, I would say, go with Mahogany or keep it plain.
