The 5er arrived yesterday; I don't normally fancy 5ers, but I have to say this one is pretty sweet :)

I think I'm starting dig a tighter and punchier tone these days.....so I'm thinking the thumb is going to be right up my alley.

Will have to work on my chops to justify such a purchase.

I was reading on the warwick forum that you can either move the rear strap button (drilling), or just add a 5/8" extension to the front button.....to solve any and all neck dive.

With a thin slippery strap, my $$ wanted to get parallel to the floor.
With a nice wide, somewhat grippy strap....it's perfect.

Yes. The bass won't balance like a corvette. It is definitely neck heavy (though to what degree will vary person to person). When I had my thumb, as well as when i've played them in stores, the most comfortable position was always strapped higher and in a more horizontal position. Felt completely natural and super comfortable. When I hang it like my normal basses (just about waist height and at an angle), it just keeps falling and I found myself adjusting too much, even with a wide strap. But you know what? The tone totally makes up for it! Find a comfortable position, and you're set! Needless to say, I'm incredibly jealous. The Thumb NT is my second favorite Warwick model!

I'm okay with the warwick weirdness. :D

That's a good point. With the $$ I had tried a bunch of different positions before I found one that worked.

Been submerging myself in videos and clips of the Thumb, and I think they've all sounded really good. Completely unique!

What's your 1st favorite warwick?

Streamer Stage II without a doubt! In an ideal world, I would own both a Stage II and a Thumb NT...then I'd probably stop buying basses for a very long time.

Currently playing a Streamer LX 4. Fantastic bass in its own right, but the Stage II is still the cream of the crop for me. I just prefer the look and feel of the Streamer. It's a very well balanced bass (mine is just a tad neck heavy, but I think that's cause the body is really light...the whole bass is only about 8 1/2lbs), and just like the Thumb, I love the contoured body!

Are the necks on the Streamers similar to the rest?

I'm hoping the '02 Thumb 5 NT's neck is fairly fat like the $$.....I just love that neck!
