Are the necks on the Streamers similar to the rest?

I'm hoping the '02 Thumb 5 NT's neck is fairly fat like the $$.....I just love that neck!

It depends on the year the bass was made. I had a 2005 Thumb BO 4 before my Streamer LX which is a '99, and the Streamer has a thinner neck, but that was that transitional year between Wenge and Ovangkol necks, and I think the profile was different. Now the current necks are thinner too ('09+ if I'm not mistaken). From 2000-2008 they were thick necks though. I had a $$ 5 which I think was '03 or '04, an '04 Corvette Std 5, and I've played a few Thumb's which were mid-2000 years, and they all had very similar feeling (and chunky) necks. I agree about loving the fat necks too. The 2009 corvette std 5 had the new thin profile, and it was one of the biggest reasons I traded it off. I love the thick profile, not the thin one. Thankfully, I believe the thick necks are still an option!

What's the tonal differences between the SSI and SSII? I've owned a SSII a couple of times, but never heard in person a SSI.

Also, does anyone find the giant string spacing too much on the Stage I? I'm ALMOST comfortable with my current 19mm, but don't know if the 20mm of the stage I would be a killer for me. I have short fingers. :D

Yup, that's how the bass was designed to work; I can lower mine quite a bit and having almost no neckdive with the use of a thick Dunlop leather strap - but then again mine is a 4 string model (09), so the neck is not as heavy as a 5er's.

The SS1 is more traditional sounding with a really big low end.
The SS2 is more closely related to the Thumb/Dolphin tone. Compressed, nasally, middy growling type tone.
I have short fingers too & I find the 20mm spacing quite comfy. Alot comfier than narrow 16.5mm spacing on the non-broadnecked models.
There's some really good sound clips & videos on the Warwick forum, in the blog section. They might be helpful for you if you're trying to decide which model is for you.

YES! After months of saving up from my measly earnings and selling my bass I have this beauty!! and would love to get a club number. Also, has anyone modified this to the active model with a push/pull switch to go active passive maybe? Could you guide me to a thread for that, if so? And now here's my pretty new baby :D don't mind the dates, I was too excited to change the camera haha

Nice. I have a standard 4-string. I had it modded with S.Duncan Basslines for a while, but I found it was limited still, IMO, not enough bass for me. Currently I have a two band Bartolini pre and the original MECs back in. I like it a bit better. More low end response w/o losing the mids. Still, I think there is another combination of pups and pre that would sound a bit better. But that's my two cents. Good luck, enjoy!

I have a Honey finish on mine and mine is passive only(like it that way),and wired mine stereo. Love the tone....it cuts through the mix like a knife! Fretless.
For some reason, it also changed my hand/fingering posture!(for the better)


It is very easy for me to play. Wide strap. Neck dive is not an issue.
