Hey y'all-got a quick question. I'm kind of a lurker but I have had my share of Warwicks and still own my 96 Corvette 4 that was my first proper bass.
I'm looking into the rockbass Streamer LX 5-string basses that pop up on ebay sometimes( there's actually a couple right now). It's gloss black w/ 2 j-style pups and a 2band mec preamp-the current rockbass line up. Not the standard humbucker model. Has anyone played any of these? I've played some of the newer Rockbass corevettes and double $$ basses, both 4 and 5 and aside from a needed setup, they felt and sounded great too. So anyone own or play the newer rockbass Streamer LX basses? Can you chime in on build quality and tone? Thanks!

Ive never used the Rockbass Streamers but I have owned a couple of Newer Rockbass Corvettes. The $$ and regular, both 5 strings. They were both of excellent quality and tone. Different from the German Warwick tone but still has some of that mojo. I'd say go for it. Heck I might pick one up as a back up bass for my Streamer Jazzman.

1997 Thumb BO, Ovangkol body, wenge/wenge neck, MEC pickups, Audere 4-band pre, DR Nickel Los
1998 Corvette Std, Bubinga body, ebony/wenge neck, passive SD Quarter Pounders, TI Jazz Flats
Both from when Warwick was still hand making them in Germany. Between the 2 of them I can get almost every sound I need. The Thumb's nut is shot and I'm thinking of replacing it with a brass JaN III.

Nice looking Wicks! However, I have confirmation via email from H.P. Wilfer that the "pre-factory" "hand-made" Warwicks from the Eggolsheim shop in the former West Germany ceased in December 1995, when they moved to their current facility in Markneukirchen. A limited number of basses were produced in January 1996 in the old facility in Eggolsheim. Regardless, they are all built with the utmost attention to detail, sound and playability. Warwick machining has always amazed me - even their entry level basses have a look and feel that is above and beyond the competition.
So I pulled the trigger on a Rockbass Streamer LX 5. Looks pretty sharp from the pics, so I'll let u know how it goes when it gets to me. Cheers! I'm excited!
My '95 Fortress Masterman 5 string was a monster. I'm still looking for one. As mentioned before, my house burned down and I lost it and about $25,000 in other gear. I got mine in perfect shape in 2008 for $750 or $800, I can't remember. It came with a hardshell case as well. You don't find deals like that on Warwick's anymore. Rarely, anyway. I sure do miss that thing! -Luke

Somebody is a sucka for a non-oil/natural finish... it's ok. Nobody's perfect.
lol, actually, that bass speaks to me a bit, too. i think the gold hw + burst finish makes it look great.
also, do you guys really think that comparatively, the cnc'd wicks are somehow of a lesser quality than the completely handmade basses?
i'm getting a little put off by ppl that swear by the handmade basses as if the ones that came after that are not as good in some way. personally, my favorite neck-through thumbs have all been made in 2002, but i have also liked the handmade era streamers i've played.

My new 1995 Warwick Fortress one fretless with brass JAN I ebony board and Wenge neck. So is this guy handmade then?
