My 'Wick, a little old and beaten up (not by me, well, for the most part) but it does the job for me, sounds great and I love it. #?

I did a few things to my Thumb....

1. The MEC preamp crapped out on me so I dropped an Audere Classic 4-band into it. The sound is HUGE and definitely an improvement while still retaining the Thumb's natural sound and growl. Highly recommended :hyper:

2. Bought a Hipshot Xtender only to find out that a. the lever won't move all the way because of the other tuners and b. the string post won't go all the way through the headstock. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix these issues so I can close its sale thread and use it?

Well 1. I totally agree. The Thumb I'm buying sounds awesome with bart pups and pre. The MEC is nice, but it can be much better :smug:

2. I've seen several Thumbs with Xtenders, none with issues either. Got any pics?

As a former member of this club, I'm looking to get back in!
Looking for a wenge NT Thumb 5 (or 6). Maybe a SSII 5 wenge neck.
I posted up on the Warwick forum and nothing as of yet.

FYI though.
GC in California (can't remember what store off hand- go to the GC web site) has a 2001 NT Thumb 5 for $1500.
I would have got it by now, I just don't like that chunkier neck profiles that they have. (that's why I'm looking for an older wenge one).

Rancho Cucamonga has something like that it's $1600. I just saw it 2 days ago + an '06 swamp ash burgandy oil 4 st corvette st. first time i saw the thumb i tried it, but im so used to the vette body, i dont think I'll own a thumb but it's in really good shape. And yeah the neck wasn't all too comfy to me. both were posted on the heads up thread on the warwick forum

If I see a SSII like u r looking I'll post it on the Heads Up on the wick forums. when im bored...often...i'll go Warwick hunting

Anyone have/see/play one? I emailed Warwick asking for the string spacing and price info and was never answered :-(
Also curious to know how much they tend to weigh.

I'm on the "wick forums as well. I already posted something up over there. But thanks for the offer to help!!!!!

it probably won't be happening at all. i pm'd and emailed dw a while ago, but didn't hear a thing, so unless we can get all existing numbers together, then we'll just have to deal with being part of the club w/o a number. :D

This is kind of a weird post, I know, but I'm looking at buying a new or used Warwick Thumb 6 string, either neck through or bolt on (but not a wide neck model), or possibly a Streamer LX 6 string with a heavy wood body, and I'm looking for one of these two bass models to play to make a decision before buying.

All I am looking for is a bass that matches this description to play for maybe 5 minutes or less, just to see what I think of them, to decide on whether or not I want to buy one.

You don't have to be selling yours, although if you're interested that might work, but these are just tough to find in stores, so I'm looking for a local who would let me just check one out. If you like, I have a 1990 Streamer Stage I 6 string that I can bring for you to play and check out. I also have a 2008 Streamer Stage II 5 string that you're welcome to play.

Let me know if you have one of these, and wouldn't mind letting me play it!
-Warwick Thumb 6 string, neck through (no wide necks)
-Warwick Thumb 6 string, bolt on (no wide necks)
-Warwick Streamer LX 6 string, preferably custom shop or with some sort of optional dense body wood (no wide necks)

Thank you!

I don't know if you all give out numbers or not, but however it works, sign me up for the Warwick Club because I just got the bass of my dreams today! A gorgeous 1995 Thumb, thanks to a fantastic fellow TBer (I can't thank you enough shizoz!)! I've been pining for a Thumb since, oh, 1987 or so. Based upon the first hour of playing and looking at this beauty, it was well worth the 24 year wait - my terrible cell phone pics do not do it justice. I think I'm in love... Woohoo! Congrats. Great year for Thumb.
They kill. Now put Bartolini in and you're done for life.
