not sure if anyone saw this auction on ebay, but since it didn't sell, i got a line on it...it's a '92 streamer with the body dimensions and electronics configuration of a streamer stage II, but the woods and construction of a streamer stage I...so, it's basically a maple ssII with no inlays or call it a neck through lx...and black hardware, too, which i think looks better than gold...looks really interesting...what do you guys think?

That one is really nice. We call it the Streamer Stage 1 and a half at the Warwick forums...

Didn't have any shots when I first posted. So here's the proof. Please assign me a number:hyper:

hey warwick specialists.

i'm gassing big time for a streamer stage 1 4 string. it's been a long time since i played one and i loved it. unfortunaltey i don't really remember the neck shape ( i like it a lot though). the other day i played a stage 2 and i loved the neck, but not the bass. anyways, my question is do stage 1 & 2 have the same neck shape? i also read that the neck shape was changed a few times over the years. when did this happen? i prefer the shape that the stage 2's have now., i.e . round and chunky. just wondering cos i might get a used one from ebay, and i don't want surprises considering the neck.

thanks for your help.

Pre-97 W'icks will feel slimmer...

by the way, the Warwick custom shop now offers custom neck profiles if you wanted to consider a new bass...

Satge I & II essentially have the same neck profile and the skinniest versions are the 80's and early 90's versions. Changes were implemented in 92 (though I don't think the neck profile changed much back then) and then in various periods after that. Certainly the neck had a bit more meat on the 98 version that I played recently. I've no idea if the basses made in the last 10 years are chunkier again, as I'm a bit of a fan of the skinnier early models :) I don't recall the few recent basses that I've played having 'huge/chunky' necks though... mind one was a CS :hmm:

If the neck dimensions are 'vital' to you I'd not get anything from earlier than mid 90's and if possible I'd go for as late as possible.

CaseyTinsley, that bass looks AWESOME...beautiful figuring in the grain of the wood!

Thanks :)

I got lucky when I ordered it. It's by far one of the better peices of ovangkol I've seen... Most of the ones I've seen are straight grained, light and kinda boring :P

I've also done ALOT of mods to the bass. I installed a MEC 3 band eq, switched out the hardware for chrome hardware (kind of satin... another mod) Reshaped the neck a bit making it a bit flatter nearer to the nut area, made a wenge trussrod cover and wenge knobs, Installed a JAN1, And I'm sure I did some other things that I can't remember :P
