New to TB and I'd like to get in on this fine group of Pedulla owners! I've had this Rapture since the late 90s and although I've gravitated toward my '77 Jazz I'm committed to get this thing crankin' again.
Can you guys please explain the differences between the MVPs and the Pentabuzz models. They look visually to be nearly identical. I have played a Pentabuzz that sounded wonderful but I wasn't a fan of the big body. I really like the Rapture form and have played one only, it too was very nice and I liked everything about it except the weight.
Edit; the Rapture and Thunderbolts have the same or similar body shapes as well, what's difference with these two as well?

MVP and Pentabuzz are the same. Fretted vs fretless. Pedulla.com has a plethora of knowledge bombs just waiting to be dropped.
Update on my issue with the electronics. First, an apology to zortation: while I had done the back and forth bit, apparently I just did not do it enough. I used to only do 5-10 times, so I did 40 times as suggested and that was a great improvement. Perhaps I can put off having expensive repairs done. BTW, I had changed the battery and checked the wires for the battery and all connections to ground as well. I had also contacted Christine at Pedulla and was not really satisfied with the answer this time. I've talked with her and Mike via phone and email in the past and this was the first time I felt the answer wasn't that helpful, but understandable. I.e., they have changed their electronics so much since they made my bass that any repair would most likely involve a change to more modern parts rather than being able to keep it "vintage". This would take a fair amount of time and also potentially be rather expensive. Since I wasn't looking for an "upgrade", I wanted to try something else. Since de-oxy and friction is frequently not a permanent solution (and not really recommended by Pedulla), I may still need to find a top notch local tech to clean things up, but for now, I'll regularly do the 40 times back and forth with an occasional de-oxy application. Thanks to all of you for the advice, it is much appreciated.
Have you determined that the pots are the source of the problem or could it be something else? If it is just the pots, they should be fairly easy for any decent tech to replace.
It could be the pot, the ground wiring, or even the preamp. My first guess was the pot, but I'm not a good guitar tech, so I will at some point take it to someone who csn handle an active high end bass - I don't want to go to just anybody.
Chances are high that it is a pot or maybe a bad solder joint. Moving parts are more likely. Bartolini preamps and pickups are potted and seldom fail. A competent tech should be able to figure it out in short order.
Virtually the same, except the Buzz is fretless with Michael's rock hard poly finish and the MVP is fretted with normally I believe, is an ebony fingerboard. The 6's only come with soapbars.
Well, I *finally* had time tonight to really sit down and play my new Pentabuzz. I only briefly played it when I first received it to make sure it was in working order, and had other higher priorities, so it sat. New strings, a tiny tweak to the setup, and then I sat down and hit the record button on this:
One take, mistakes and all. But dang... I love this thing. Hope to spend more time with it in the coming weeks to get my intonation in order, and re-learn some of these songs that my bands have, that will work great on fretless.

@Selta whatd you use to record? Any eq magic, amp DI, or was that flat? What strings did you throw on? Pickup selection?
Hah! That makes total sense. For me, Pedulla makes the ultimate fretless. Pedulla went into my Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II, which was running a modeled Mesa IIc+ head, into an Ampeg B-15 cab, some slight reverb tacked on, but the mix was at like 8%, so just barely there.
Strings are just the normal Pedulla Nickle strings. Those GHS strings that were on it were... well, to be frank, terrible. All on board goodies at center detents -- so both pickups on (blend at dead center), mid boost switch in down position, bass and treble at center as well.
Damn, just when I was sitting here with my workbench ready to craft an identical boutique-quality instrument with your serial number... only to then sell it on a Chinese website for $200.
Makes sense. Good thing you dodged that bullet.
