I just went there to check it out and I noticed that MY Pedulla is on that page, second from the top of the ET5 section. The interesting thing is, I bought it from them last year. If there is ANOTHER, identical ET5 9280, something is amiss!

My Penta is used but in GREAT shape, FB is nice and shiny. But, I can feel the white fretlines if I run my finger down my FB. Is that normal? Or does my board have substantial wear, and has just been polished back to a nice shine maybe?

Either way, I'm loving it just the way it is!

When I took my '94 P-Buzz, bought used in December '07, to Michael for a headstock crack repair in March '08, we talked about the (plentiful) fingerboard wear - on mine one could also feel the lines - Michael's recommendation was to level & recoat the board, which he did & it's fantastic! He also checked my '88 Buzz, performed a simple buffing/polishing of the board, & its now virtually indistinguishable from a new one (it might need recoating in a few years).

I have Pedulla basses from '88, '91 (that's the headstock date, but Michael actually built it for me as a replacement for my dying EL-10B in '94; my then 2-year-old son helped choose the color), '93, '95, & '98; all electronics are unmodified except for a couple of replacement pots. Only the '95 T-Bass has a (Thunderguts) switch, & it's mated to the old 3-pot control layout. The '93 (I've mistakenly dated it to '94 before - duh!) P-Buzz & '98 T-Bolt are the only ones w/4 pots...

The (few) pictures I've seen look like variations on the MVP/Buzz series; according Mike's site "The standard control layout on the MVP/Buzz consists of master volume, pickup pan, individual active bass and treble boost/cut controls and a low mid boost/cut switch."

But I've got no personal experience... Christine promptly answers questions, including information about the original specs for an individual instrument if you give her the serial number.

Christine got back to me today and said it was basically a MVP with a slightly different cutaway.

I am looking at a Thunderbass ith bubinga top and also one with Zebra top from a friend of a friend. what are the different sound tonailities of each one of these if compared against each other?

also they seem to have 3 knobs and 1 switch. what toes each knob and the switch do? anybody?

I don't think there's much difference in the sound with different tops. Most of the sound is determined by the strings, neck, fingerboard, pickups, bridge, nut, and to a lesser degree, the weight and density of the body.

I haven't seen any thunderbasses with only three knobs. I thought they all had 4-- volume, pickup pan, active treble boost/cut, active bass boost/cut, and the the Thunderguts™ switch.

thnks for the help but the bubinga one has definetly 3 single unstacked knobs with a toggle switch and the Zebra wood has 3 singe unstacked knobs.
