I was just thinking that $3000 is a bit more than most used pedullas are going for. I got my rapture for $1000 even. Easily worth double that. Still don't understand why their resale value is so low other than the whole GC flood the market thing. I would think a used thunderbolt in excellent condition would be around $2000. IMO.

Yeah, Thunderbolts typically sell in the $1400-1800 range on ebay. Actually, it’s rare to see even a Thunderbass or Pentabuzz go for over $2000. The problem is even “worse” with Alembics (if you want to call it that!). Some of their basses that list for $1-2000 more than Pedullas sell used for about the same price as the upper-end Pedullas.

I think Pedulla makes a great bass, always have. Unfortunately for me they'd never make me exactly what I'd need. They do what they do and they do it well. Those Nuance basses sure look great though. I look forward to checking one out eventually to see how they differ. It looks like an old teacher of mine, Dave Buda, helped test them. If you don't know who Dave is check him out. Outstanding bass player and a great guy. I'll have to hit him up about the Nuance.

While playing in 2 different bands tonight I got 2 other gigs with my rapture. I play the same as I always have, but the punch and tone of this pedulla allows it to truly come through. So many complinents on my groove and tone that would have never come with a different bass. fEarful cabs are the s__ too. Amazingly they are both about to pay themselves off and its the "off season"!

Strongly considering a BE maple ramp.....

Well, the original owner of the Pentabuzz that I currently own inquired whether I'd sell it back to him last week. I agreed. I'm really going to miss that bass despite not playing it nearly as much as I should have.

I definitely need to replace it with another (though I have no idea on a time frame)... so, if anyone has Penta that they may consider letting go of (and not want back), let me know! :help:

Needless to say, the Nuance rocked! Christine sent me a D-tuner for it, and I was able to install it a couple of days prior to the gig. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :cool:

A couple of quick shots below...I will take some better ones later.

So, I went to the Atlanta Bass Gallery today and picked up my new toy. Jim actually ordered one for the shop at the same time and they both arrived yesterday. So, in reality, I had the choice of taking either one. The other had a burl maple top and mine has the quilted red heard maple. I did an A/B sound test and I liked the sound of mine better as well. It is slightly warmer than the other. I have not had a chance to really let it loose at home yet. My 2 week old is sleeping in the next room and my wife would kill me if I cranked it up! So, pictures will do until she wakes up!

Well, now that the baby woke up..I was able to play it for a while. I really like it..It is right down my alley as far as the tone goes. I have to say...very flexible. You can really get a lot of different sounds out of it. Something that my Thunderbolt can't do. My Thunderbolt is pretty aggressive. This is somewhat of a more round tone but not in a bad way. Which all makes sense, being that the pickups are shifted slightly closer (about 3/4") to the neck compared to a Thunderbolt. The pickups themselves are also slightly larger. The switch is actually usable. On the Thunderbolts I always felt that it boosted the signal so much that it was never really that useful. This one provides a quick change to a more modern/aggressive tone with a flip of the switch. I still need to spend some more time with it. But, I can definitely see this becoming my go to bass.

As with all Michael's work, the fit and finish are top notch and the woods are gorgeous. When I ordered it, he said he would try to find a good top for me and he did. And the maple body definitely has some "interest" as Michael would put it. I brought the action down a little but that is just my personal preference. It plays like butter! I can't wait to take it on it's first gig. :bassist:
