The Pedulla Club!

Guess I should join the club now. I have had the Rapture for 10 or 12 years, just got the Pentabuzz finally last week. They both look nicer in person. Somehow, I can never capture the effect of the gloss. Pictures look either just like stained wood, or like candy.

WOW, that Rapture is gorgeous! It looks like it has a stacked knob. Does it not have the standard pre? Welcome to the club

It does have a mid boost inside the bass +/-. Not sure if that was an option at the time or a post-production alteration. I'm also curious what the frequency centers of the EQ are for both basses. Does anyone know?

Got my lazy butt to the Bartolini website. I believe they both have NTMB, so it is something like 30 Hz, 400Hz, 10khZ.

Buzz must have NTMB2 or 3 (It says NTMB-918PG on it), because it does have that little trimpot for the mids inside (does not pick 250 vs 500 vs 800, but one trimpot for how much gain when swtich is set to gain, and another for how much cut when switch is set to cut) and another trim pot for overall gain control.

I just purchased a 1990 Pedulla Buzz 4-string and it is without doubt by far the best fretless I've ever played. Based on how I play it, I can fool people into thinking it has frets to blowing them away by making it sing like a trumpet. No other fretless has allowed me to have this much control over the mwah and bloom, etc. I love it and it's also so easy to play in tune. Awesome!!!!

Question. My bass has the four knob configuration. At first I thought just the original ones had three knobs and Just the new ones four knobs with the extra mid selector switch. I though my configuration came between these two about 1990. However, I just saw a picture of a '93 MVP with 3 knobs so how did all this work?

Also, my truss cover says "Custom". What does this mean? Knobs? Wood?

I am now searching around for an MVP neckthrough to match my Buzz and need to know the differences in order to make a proper decision on what to get. Is there a huge difference between th PJ an JJ pickups?

I guess now that I own a Pedulla and love it, you can add me to the club.

Hi fellow Pedulla fans. #37 here. I've got some G.A.S. for a 4-string Rapture to go with my JJ5, which I love. I have a Warwick Corvette $$ as my 4-banger, but my Rapture 5 neck is more comfortable than my Warwick 4, not to mention I like the Rapture's tone better - hence why I've been considering a Rapture 4.

The quandary: I have the JJ, but I've noticed a few single soapbars with a rosewood board up on the used market lately. I just can't bring myself to buy one blind, since I really like the JJ with a maple board, tone-wise. I'd be down (perhaps more so) with a PJ/maple. What has been your experience with the different tones between JJ, PJ, and SB, and maple/rosewood boards? Conventional wisdom would be the maple would be "brighter", which I like. Would a SB/rosewood sound drastically different than a JJ/maple?

Thanks! :hyper:

Cool - a Pedulla Club. I have a beautiful 1998 MVPedulla Buzz bass 5 in vintage Cherry Burst with a AAA top. Looks and sound are killer. When I get a chance I'll post a picture, I assume I don't get a number until I give a picture, but if you're feeling generous feel free to number me.:bassist:

I got this 87 Buzz from here on TB. Incredible playing bass. A past PO had stripped the original gloss finish and stained a two toned oiled finish. I like the feel of the wood, especially the neck. But two-tone is not my thing so I am gonna see what I can do with that.
