I think Ricks have the highest resale of any currently produced bass, and giving a Rick that paint job is one of the few ways to destroy that value. IMO.

If it's the bass you're married to, go for it. TrooperFarva's right about killing resale value though, only a reggae player will dig the color and mostly I don't see 'em using Ric's.

by the way, this was totaly influenced by flea's circle jerck bass. i loved the three stripe patteren but couldnt steel his red white and blue, so this is what i came up with

Looks cool. Do it if you really feel like it expresses you. But a white pickguard would look a lot better, in my opinion. And a darker green.

You should buy one used if you're gonna repaint it. Cosmetics won't be an issue when you're going to strip the thing and you'll save a lot of dough, not to mention the waiting period.
