I think the key to using "A'ternate Tuning" is learning to play WITHOUT using open notes. I played in C# tuning after 2 years of playing. (yep, Sabbath!) If you don't rely on open notes, it's easy to:

A) Switch keys on a song on the Fly, and
B) Switch tunings on your instrument.

You just move your fingering pattern to the desired tuning.

This also helped when I FINALLY got my hands on a 5er. Instead of tuning to C#, I just rolled everything back 2 frets, and VIOLA!

In the Black Sabbath Tribute band I played in, the guitarist needed 3 - 4 guitars, each tuned differently. I relied on my black R5L & my Peavey TL-5, both in standard "B"-Tuning.

Well, it's MINE Now! And in anticipation of how this is going to fit into one of my 3 Fish, I thought it might be a good idea to take a peak inside of one!

Then it occurred to me that perhaps some of the other Reverend owners had never seen the insides of a Reverend before. SO, here's what it looks like in the deepest recesses of a JJ Rumblefish:

I'm torn as to how to deploy this Pup. 1st off I need to make sure it's a REAL Reverend prototype. Shouldn't be too hard. Quick trip to the factory! Assuming it is the Real Deal I'm considering:

1) Alone, in Bridge position, Ala EB/MM

2) In neck position, with Single in Bridge position, Ala EB-3

3) In Bridge position in the XL, with middle toggle playing just the rear pup.

Any thoughts/suggestions/concerns/interest?

You'll want to cut a new PG any way so go the 'MM' / J route and have a mount a single coil, parallel, series switch for the 'MM'. You could add an additional switch that would introduce an extra cap in line with one of the modes to darken up the bridge additionally. In which case I'd orient things as Pot / Switch / Pot / Switch / Pot Jack ... so go find that nice blank of dark grey MOTS/Abalone or ??? and get to tracing your new PG ...



(DP/DT on, on,on, Stew Mac #1223 - or call Butch at Bayou Cables - he's actually doing something similar wiring up and L 2000 currently so he's fresh up on the wiring aspect)

Yes, that's my Option 3, which I'm leaning towards. Chef's idea has me thinking Pretty Hard though. That would be AWESOME!:bassist:

That big beefy 'bucked J pup is likely to overpower any other J single pup. Thus, my suggestion.

However, if anyone has a spare 10k ohm Rev P pup, I call DIBS!
I need one for a project I have here, and I'd be willing to trade a stock 8.7k ohm Rev pup and cash...or just plain ole cash...to get one.

Is anyone here familiar with a music store named "Mojo Sonic" in Memphis? They have the bugeye rumblefish on e-bay now. They started out with a $1199 buy it now, which was way too steep so no one bought it. Then they re-listed it at $1099 buy it now, but with no reserve and no starting bid. It had at least 5 or 6 bids on it including mine when all of a sudden they ended it and re-listed it again with a buy it now only for $1099.
I think that they should not be allowed to end the auction once it had that many bids. Hopefully no one will spend $1099 for it.

What do you guys think?

It is "new", but it only comes with a gigbag, which I suspect is not even a Reverend since they do not specify. I would think that it should be in the $800 - $900 range, maybe 1K since it is new and a bugeye.
I e-mailed e-bay about them changing the auction after it had several bids, I haven't heard back from them yet, but apparantly it was ok. I just don't think it was the "right" thing to do. It reminded me of the old bait and switch....they put it on there with no reserve and no opening bid and then when it started generating some interest, they re-list it with a buy it now only for $1099. Pretty shady in my opinion. I e-mailed them about it and they claim it was an honest mistake. They have 369 transactions on e-bay so I don't buy that bull.
