Watspan: GC sells those under the RoadRunner name for like $49;) Good stuff.
The RoadRunner bags are nice too, but a little bulkier than the G&L
PoK: you just answered the G&L Q...those "on-line" for about $65.

I hope to post my own pics and my thoughts soon, but my initial reaction is (and I know that several of you are gonna say, "Duh! I told you so!"), 'why the heck did I not pick up a Fish before now?' :D

Hey Tom;
Not much to dis-like;) Remember, the JJ's with v/v/t are substantially different than the XL like yours. The series mode makes a huuuuge sonic difference.

LOL! This is a constant battle for me, as well. The kids have been making great inroads of late, but so far, I am still winning. :D

I had played one with the series switch at the last BBB GTG, and yes, that thing is da bomb! It took me from the 'man, I really should get one of these' mode to 'must have now!' kinda mode. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Of course, now I gotta get me a V/V/T, and a BH5. :smug: Jason also sent me two P-pickups, so I could either go P/J or dual P with this baby. Any thoughts on either of those options? Oh, and I'd appreciate some more informed descriptions of the defining characteristics of the 'standard', XL, BH, and P/J species of Fish. :cool:

Thoughts: they're routed to take the P pup already. Get another guard made, solder on quick connects, and there ya go.
If your P pups are both 10K ohm and you can part with one, I need one...please;)

OK:
Standard JJ: brighter than the XL JJ, all the way around. Much more like a 62 RI Jazz. The XL doesn't let you solo the bridge pup, IIRC-the switching choices are uniquely Reverend, and odd. But great!
XL: I think you get neck only, both parallel, both series. Overall darker than the VVT JJ, but still plenty bright, esp in non-series.
BH: dark, woody, harmonically rich. Playing mine solo, I don't care for it so well. I always think "Man, I wish I had more highs." In a live mix, it's flippin awesome. The "widest of all 5'er necks" seems awkward at fist blush, then disappears.
PJ: The stock 8.7 P pup is mean, barky, and grindy. Not as hot as a G&L SB2 P pup, but dang close. As with the SB2, the J pup is mostly "for seasoning," but if you crank the J pup as high as it'll go without fouling the strings, it can be effective on it's own, with the right amp.

Nice, Tom!
Being a previous owner of that fish, I must congratulate you on getting a real gem! You should be very happy with her.
