They are the schiznit for sure. I can't imagine getting rid of mine. Another 4 string is definitely in my future, another PJ would be awesome, but I'll settle for an XL.

I know how you feel. 4mal nearly sold/traded his safety orange PJ, which is like mine except it has Aero pickups instead of the stock Reverend ones. I had brought mine strung with flats hoping that Mal would bring his so we could do a side-by-side tone comparison, but you would probably like the tone of the PJ with rounds even better. Maybe Mal will foolishly put his bass up on the block once again; you never know.

PJs seem to be more rare than the XL or JJ 'fish, and it's possible that you would like the tone of either of those nearly as much as the PJ (tone isn't all that different). I'm considering getting a separate (JJ or XL) wiring harness made up for my JJ faceplate and pickups so that I can convert it to Jazz mode in just a few minutes. If I do that, you'll be able to hear what a regular JJ 'fish sounds like, which might be just what you're looking for.

OTOH, I'm seeing more Reverends in the sale pages these days. One might turn up.

ok so i finally came to my senses and decided not to sell my 5L...the killer tone is definitely worth not having the string spacing be EXACTLY what i'd like.

but anyway, i have a question. i've never really taken the pick guard off (or any pick guard for that matter), and i was wondering how you get the knobs/switch off. do they just screw off? i've seen little screws on the knobs of my other basses, but my 5L doesn't seem to have any. i'm just wondering because i'm contemplating getting anew pick guard. thanks, and sorry if this is a dumb question.

I believe if you PULL FIRMLY they will come off. Friction-Fit I believe...

Pickgaurd comes off Pretty easily! Your R5L would be similar...

Greetings from the North,

You want a white 5L with a maple board and I want one with a rose wood board. Organize a 4 way or would it be a 5 way (?) trade and I'll throw in my 2007 vintage white MH G&L L2500. Then everyone would be happy. LOL

haha, i got my Rev through a 3-way trade with Madd_anthony and GaryLC, and i ALMOST traded away my Rev in another 3-way trade that didn't work out...its sort of an inside joke.

just to clear up any misunderstandings, i'm not really into that sort of thing :)

I put some DR Marcus Miller on my 5L and tried them on my gig last night. They sounded great, but the tension was quite a bit looser than the sit's that came stock. I'll have to see if I can get use to the looser tension. Setup issues.... any other 5L users having trouble getting there B string setup right? I have the saddle all the way to the back of the bridge, and it still goes sharp at the 12th fret.
