Thanks! It's got an ugly looking repair in the back of the neck but you don't feel it when playing. It has a heavier duty bridge than my earlier jj 4 ( which is the stamped fender-type) and is the only maple necked fish I've ver played/owned. As my other 2 fish were from ebay, it was a real treat to get a "factory fresh" Reverend out of the box! A feeling I hope to repeat again some day!

Invalid Link Removed I believe this is the maple, there is an ash as well on that page. I have the bill of sale at home--I'll see if it says anything, but I do remember mahogany (but I do sometimes remember incorrectly--damn 50's!)

Yessir, but that's bird's-eye, not quilted...maple comes both ways.

Two of the five Reverends I've owned came to me direct from the factory. I still remember opening the case when my green/gold 5L showed up. That guitar polish/new bass smell just poured out. Intoxicating. I should have kept that bass.

I remember seeing fish on a German website, and they called the finish like watspan's "tiger eye". When I went in to Reverend and asked about it, they told me it must have been the quilted mahogany.

Just another take. Whatever it's called, it's beautiful.

I was checking out a couple of new toys (basses ) last night, and while I was switching back and forth, my hand - seemingly of its own accord - grabbed the neck to my XL, instead of the 'new toy' I thought I was reaching for. So, I went with the urge and laid it down for a while on my Fish. I don't need to tell you guys, but it felt good.

I had picked out which ones I was most interested in, and had cash in hand, but failed to pull the trigger. At the time I had not yet tried my first 'fish, or I would have gotten another one for sure. By the time I got my first one, they were long sold out. Nice shot of the bluefish, BTW.

There were some cool tops on those last ones.

The top and back on my Skjold Exotic Custom 4 are mahogany. Pete referred to it as 'fiddleback mahogany.'

Well, the bill of sale said RUM Quilted Demo # 12, so that doesn't help much. I'm not sure what the code RUM stands for--the M could be Maple or Mahogany. I'm sticking with my memory that it is Mahogany! I hate to waste Reverend's time, but I emailed them asking about it!

I don't think that Archive page is complete for all the finishes--the first 'fish I saw in a music store was grey

I was changing strings on my BH5 today (I've been hating the Ken Smith steels, so I put on TI superalloys and LOVE them -- thanks for the suggestion, 4mal!), and I realized that I still had the camera and tripod out. So I took a quick peek under the pickguard and snapped a couple pics for curiosity's sake before I put the new strings on.

My BH5 has had some minor electrical work (replaced the stock cap with the yellow Musicap, pot changed, etc.), but the pics show the construction pretty well.

Saetia- here on the classifieds, on ebay, and I also see one at goodguysguitars.com now and then. No, they're not made anymore, and I'm in the same boat as you, except probably poor-er.
