It's what came on it. I think it was an option at one point. Reverend seems to have changed parts suppliersa few times.

IIRC, my PJ originally was a JJ or XL. I have the other pickup and pickguard as well.

I've posted this in a separate thread -- "Impossibly rare dream bass . . ." but I got a Lava PJ, and I thought I'd post a few pics of the current school before I put one or two back in the water.

Look at this long enough and you'll fall under the power of Reverends . . .

Nice pair of PJs. The white one converts to a JJ (I have the extra pickup and it was made to convert), and I may end up doing that and selling the Dawgfish.

I'd have ten of 'em if I could, but that's not realistic.

Ideally, I'd like to end up with two maple FB fish: one PJ (the Lava Swirl) and one XL. There are a couple options.

1) Keep the white PJ. It converts to JJ and I have the pickup, so a quick wiring change and it can be an XL. I'd probably get a W/B/W JJ pickguard made, but in the meantime I'd use the one from the Dawgfish and put the silver one the Dawgfish came with back on it. Then I'd sell the Dawgfish. This would be the easiest option, but the downside would be that I would no longer have a red/black UGA-themed fish. I do love the cream/white look though.

2) Swap necks on the Dawgfish and the white PJ. This would get me the Dawgfish look, but with the maple board. The downside of this would be that it would be an irreversible mod to both basses once I sold the white one with the rosewood FB. I don't like irreversible mods and monkeying with the serial numbers which are mainly on the necks (there might be one on the body somewhere, but I haven't seen it).

3) Try to trade either the white PJ/JJ or the Dawgfish to mdlewis who just bought a maple-necked XL with a red top. It's a bit of a long shot, but who knows . . .

I need a giant, stand mounted PJ like that.
I could play a lot of songs, in G, just like him.

Eventually, I might branch out inot other keys. Maybe not though.
