Hello there,
I came across the Dub King bass, and I'm very interested to get some info on that bass,
I'm looking for a hollow body EB2 type bass, and that seems to be close in terms of style and sound.
How about built quality, is it Asian made? Any one uses that instrument?

It's just a modified regular JJ with the gold guard. I think it was made in 97. I put barts on it, racing stripe, hipshot clover tuners, amber shell pickguard, and quick release gotoh bridge. I really wish Rev. would have reissued something like their old ones, but given that they weren't selling (as has been discussed ad nauseum) made no sense to reissue the same bass.
I will try to put up a better pic. if anybody is interested.

Personally, I can never hear the difference when blending, it's either on or not. To my ears, one pickup always dominates when they aren't 50/50, so a pickup selector was the better solution for me.
The bridge pickup is a bart BC4C, dual coil wired for series/parallel with a push/pull volume pot.

They are Korean made. They are all inspected and setup in Michigan. They're pretty picky QC wise, but I'm sure a bad one gets by every now and then. I played one for a few minutes, but I couldn' get used to the short scale.
I've gassed for one of these for years,terribly so since '06 for obvious reasons. The Rumblefish is the only bass I've ever ALWAYS wanted..Don't get me wrong,I'd push Gramma's chair into traffic for an Alembic DragonWing,but I don't think about it every time I play another bass..

Depending on how far you want to take it, and how much you're willing to invest...
I'd expect bass # 59 to have been equipped with Kent Armstrong singles. Maybe contact KA ?
Almost any inexpensive bent steel bridge should be fine. Nothing special there, but the BadAss is a fail.
Hipshot ultralites were a factory option for $80, and an excellent upgrade over the stock cheapies. You might want to keep 'em on there.
An original early pickguard may be a challenge? Haven't seen one for sale in years.
Having a new top installed is prolly gonna be pricey, but I'm pretty sure it can still be done.

Glad to hear the strings helped out. Nice when the fix is that easy! Chrome flats would kill on that bass - just my opinion. Congrats and enjoy

IIRC, DA XL170 nickle rounds were factory issue, and I think they sound really good on the Rev PJ.
I was never much of a flats guy unless it was on a fretless until I slapped them on my BH5 when I got it. I haven't picked up my MTD with rounds since.

I think Rezdog has both LaBella black tapes, and, Chromes.

That's not opinion, that's fact!
I had Chromes on my gold P/J when I sold it, and they were the perfect match for that bass (metal top, maple fretboard.)
For rounds on 'Fish, I like Ernie Ball Slinkys or D'Addarios.

The Orca BH5 is still wearing LaBella Tapes and the Gold Top is now wearing......NOS Fender 7250 Nickels. Surprisingly they sound great.

Labella chrome flats. Had the LaBella black tapes on her when she came to me, but in my own humble opinion they did not fit into a rock-oriented band setting. Switched to the chromes and haven't looked back. Lots of punch but still maintains the lows well, and the highs really sound right to me, they are clear and warm without being thin.
