I wasn't crazy about flats on my 5L, can't remember what kind I tried on there. My PJ is wearing a set of Elixirs that have to be at least 3 years old. Flats live on m franken P with the Rev P pup in it. What a killer bass that is, that Rev pup gives it just the best P tone

I've got those on my blue Rumblefish. Great strings, although the E went south a little sooner than I would have liked. But I think they're a great match for the bass. They really highlight its inherent snarl.
My other 'Fish is wearing Chromes and I'm having a blast plucking with my thumb and palm-muting. It sounds enormous through an amp.

Chromes on all my 4-strings. The Rumblefish PJ celebrated their 10th year of service last month.

Since you scooped the last one from right under my fingertips... I thought I'd be a good idea to grab one of these while I have the chance!!

Hey Chef, Daktari... How's the quality on these anyway? My current teardrop is falling apart and I only use it once or twice a week. The closures are litterally falling off and the tolex is made of tissue paper!

I'm hoping these tuxedo cases are nice and sturdy. Ideally, it should hold up well enought to still function even after it starts to look beat up. Whereas my current case looks to be in ok shape, but is actually falling apart!

The tuxedo cases (at least mine) are not heavy duty. I have the orginal case with my XL and use it once or twice a week to haul the bass. It functions well as a case that sees back seat of the car duty, but I would not attempt much more than light, relatively protected transport.

Agree completely. But they add value to a Fish, part of the "kitsch-vibe-factor" I guess. The cheezy Rev bag and flimsy case totally belies the sound that comes out of these odd looking basses.

The case is gig duty though, at least for me. Both of mine are many years/gigs old, and doing fine.

If you want something "dutier," the Contego Protec works well.

My tuxedo case has seen a pretty fair share of in and out of the house, has more than a few nicks and scratches but has held up exceedingly well. I've never thought anything of it's durability

I don't need anything heavy duty, but it needs to sand up to regular weekly use you know?! My last case simply had terrible cheap hardware for the most part.

I'm looking forward to getting the Tuxedo case to dress up my BH5! If it lasts for years to come, that'll be a bonus!

I bought a new Reverend Hardshell Bass Case for my rumblefish.
Fits great and it's plenty heavy-duty enough for weekly use.
It's not the original teardrop, but keeping with the brand loyalty makes me smile.

I think I might have even gotten it cheaper through a reverend dealer, but don't quote me on that.

The new issue cases are nice; for sure.
But, "they're big rectangles," and the thing I like the most about the Tuxedo case is HSC protection in a smaller format.

Which is why I like the ProTec Contego, as it's the same profile as the OHSC.

Canadian case make a teardrop that specs as though it will hold Rumblefish, and it's what I would have bought if I
a) didn't have a protec, and,
b) found a stock OHSC
