The Reverend Club (part 8)

I'm thinking of adding to my Reverend family. The Decision P is so good, that I actually sold all my other basses since I've only used my trusty DP since I got it lol. I'm stuck between the Root Beer Sparkle Wattplower or the Brad Houser Signature fatfish32.
I don't have any experience with the Wattplower but I'm not a big fan of short scales in general. I can highly recommend the Fatfish. That thing is a machine!

I love my Wattplower Mk. II. But I've never tried the Fatfish, which seems like a bit of a different beast with its semi-hollow construction and a different neck pickup placed further back than the Wattplower's. Seems like a question of personal preference.

Yeah I think it is a question of personal preference. I've lusted after the wattplower but I have one shortie (a stingray) which generally sits in its case. It feels like a toy to me but it's has its place - it's kind of comfortable to use while sitting on the couch at movie time :) Disclaimer: I have a tendency to change my mind so don't hold it against me if you see me posting a wattplower here someday 😂 For now I'm digging the Fatfish, the tone, the neck and the scale is just too nice.

I've never tried a shortscale before , so I'm very curious if I'll like it or not. Unfortunately, no music shops around me have short scale basses, not even a mustang... I love how the Fatfish looks. Such a beautiful instrument.

I might just take a drive to a Reverend dealer (I think the closest one to me is like a 4 hour drive) and just test them both out. One on hand, I've never played a short scale, on the other hand, I've never played a semi hollow! So, either route would be something new for me... just a matter of which one will I like lol.

I don't own this, but I wish I did. I keep looking at pics of this in the internet. It's a Mercalli 5FM in coffeeburst. If Reverend did this color again I would buy it in a heartbeat. It would look nice next to my red Merc 5FM. Thought I'd share it with you fine people. If anybody has one of these, please post pics of it for me to drool over.

I wish they would do a 4FM some year. Has that ever happened?
