The G&L L2000/L2500 is one of my favorite basses of all time.
If you feel it meets your needs better, end of discussion.
BTW, used L2000 tributes can be had for ~$300 if you have a watchful eye and good timing.
You're a bass player, so I know you've got better timing than say, a drummer;)
It don't take long to save that kinda jack, and keep the 5L.

nice work!

Thanks!

Hey, what is the HIGHEST Serial no. on a Rumblefish anyone has seen? My 4-Banger was 1018, and my R5L was 04742. But the Black fish I just got from eBay is 034442, and it almost looks like 03444-2. Isn't that a Pretty High No? Is this perhaps, 1 of 2?

My 5L is #04522 I ASSumed it was a very new one but....... The body repair is almost complete. Pics soon!!

my newest fish is a premium mahogany-topped 4 that I got last year when they put a last batch on the website -- # 04470 ZSG--I don't know if that helps or not--someone posted earlier in the thread that the 4's and 5's were ser. #'d differently. for reference, my early blue 5L for sale (hint hint) is ser. # 00736 R5L # 37 JLN
my older 4 is simply marked #01116 JLN

Take a paperclip or some other metal object, and tap the pickup poles as you run the switch thru it's positions.
It'll be real obvious which pups are on or off.
Don't do this with yer amp craaaaaanked;)

5 string 'fish owners help me out here--froggyone2 has asked for a description of the R5L tone--J or P and he plays a dingwall. I've never played any 5's or a dingwall and I have'nt played my own R5L much! I replied definitely J vs. P. passive p/u's are hot and Rev's have a reputation of clear piano-like tone. but my 4's are definitely old school too if you put on flats, roll of the tone and stick some foam under the bridge ala' carole kay. Can anyone describe the 3 way switch any better from a function and tone perspective?
Thanks!

Well, mine seems to be psychic. It's fat and warm when the situation calls for it, and bright and clean when needed. It's almost creepy...

The 3 way switch on mine is set up differently, in that in the middle it's the bridge pickup by itself, not the neck. (I like it that way!) Here's how I would put it. It's like a jazz but fatter, and clearer. The 35" scale really helps with clarity.

Yep, that's kinda how I see it.
Remember when Fender made those Kubiki powered "Jazz Plus 5 Deluxe's" back in 92-94?
Though these sound nothing like that, the name would work well...

Thanks!

Received the Latest Fish last night. It is a -2 at the end of the 03444 SN...But this is One BADD@$$ Fish! I'm finding the rosewood boards on the neck make for a Warmer, as opposed to a Brighter, sounding tone. :bassist:

Not bad for $680 shipped, with a Tuxedo! The Gray pickguard looks a lot better in person than the pic. But how/where/who do I see about getting BLACK Pup Covers?!? :help:

I'll post a couple more Pics later today...
