hmm, now that you mention it - could it be that it's not a V63, but a 4003s with vintage PUs?

You know---bet it is a 4003S with a toaster switched in. Is there any way to tell if there are walnut wings at the head?

look under the guard for the 1/2' rout. also, the pickguard should go right up to the chrome surround on the bridge pickup. I am more inclined to believe that it is an 'S' not a 'V'...

yes, I think it's obvious now. I need to talk to Ishibashi since it was clearly announced as a v63. I just believed it by seeing the toaster, didn't do any additional checks.

Now, what is the difference between the v63 and the 4003S? The position of the neck pU and the horseshoe, but are body and neck the same?

the V63 should have a toaster pickup and the bridge pickup with the horseshoe surround(like the original 60's pickup). The pickguard extends right up to the bridge pickup. Wiring wise, they should be the same. The different pickups color the sound with overtones so there are a few things. Also, the V63 should have a square heel joint when connecting to the body wings, not rounded like all the other Rics. this is just a start...there are walnut headstock wings on the V63....etc....

I think the V63 has a thinner neck than the 4003S models---at least those made from the beginning to the mid-90's. Also the V63 is worth a lot more, at least according to price guides. The 4003S is listed at between $1300 and $1400. T The V63 at $1900 to $2400. They probably owe you some money.
