The 60s basses had real skinny necks. They're a gem to play. :bassist:

I always hear complaints about the necks on the newer Ricks being on the fat and chunky side, but when I finally got a chance to play a '13 4003 the other day, I found the neck to be rather slim and fast. I guess I must like my necks on the chunky side. I honestly wouldn't want it to be any thinner. It makes me curious to try what someone would consider to be a skinny Rick neck.

When people say "skinny" or "thin" neck, are they referring to the width of the nut, or the distance from front to back?

Great video man, and the Ric sounds divine... I love playing outdoors... It's a Woodstock thing :)
Thanks man. I love the Ric's consistency up and down the neck. +1 to outdoor gigs. The PA support was very nice. The amp was just a 1x18 Crate which sounds fantastic and kept up with the drums with ease.

Ever play a Jazz Bass? Talk about skinny.

Beacause of the dual truss rods, its cross section is more of a D instead of a C. That's what most folks notice. There were some years when the depth from the top surface of the fret board to the back of the neck got a bit too beefy however.
