Mine holds a very special place with me. My father was killed on his bike coming home from work on Sept 10th, 2003.
I used the little money he left me April or May the next year to purchase it.
The build date on the bass is for the week of Sept 10th, 2003.

Thanks, I will - almost sold it a while back, and I only looked up its' birth-date less than a year ago. I was really glad I didn't do it then
I had stopped playing it for a few years, and was experimenting with building my own basses and trying to get that "perfect tone". It was only after I played it for my sis one night so she could hear different basses' tones that she said "that one sounds beautiful!" - and I went back and listened to recordings of me playing it, and wondered why I even stopped playing it in the first place.
I see we are neighbors somewhat, haha. I always wanted to visit the beautiful, rugged northwest coastline( I see you sometimes live in WA).

Discovering after the fact the bass was built the week your father passed and using money he left you to get it; that is a pretty strange coincidence. I'd say his hand was in it somewhere..... Maybe so, but Ricks have bad low frequency response!
Ironically I did record that with 0.1 uF cap in-line so that might have cut some lows off, but the hinge frequency seems like it should be below 30 Hz at that value, which would mean no audible effect.
Not jealous on the Rick (because I have mine) but jealous on the Orange Rig!!

That's a sad but beautiful story. Please don't ever sell that bass, you will never forgive yourself if you do.
